I've just tried to send for a pack of LFTs via the government web site.

There are none available.

(I'd screenshot the page but I've never got the hang of screenshotting...)

Where does this leave us all?

Casdon Mon 13-Dec-21 10:24:16

Collecting them from our nearest pharmacies and libraries? I picked up two boxes on Friday with no issue, they had loads.

Hetty58 Mon 13-Dec-21 10:27:50

I expect there's been a pre-Christmas rush on them but keep trying. As Casdon says, chemists etc. should still have some.

MaizieD Mon 13-Dec-21 10:34:09

Thanks, I'll try the local chemists.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 13-Dec-21 10:43:22

That is being reported on the radio. Ours are hopefully arriving this morning. I’ve ordered for one person and we will be very very careful and only use them when absolutely necessary.n

Whitewavemark2 Mon 13-Dec-21 10:47:09

Radio just said that in theory you should take a LFT before attending the booster clinic.

Anyone see a problem with that?

Calistemon Mon 13-Dec-21 11:02:17

We had one pack delivered on Saturday.
Perhaps this is just blip and stocks will arrive soon ?

JenniferEccles Mon 13-Dec-21 11:15:50

I expect there has been a huge demand following the PM’s announcement yesterday.
I’m sure stocks will be replenished soon.

Pepper59 Mon 13-Dec-21 11:16:51

I think because of the initial rush, they will have run out due to demand. Hopefully it will sort itself out. I had one box delivered this morning.

maddyone Mon 13-Dec-21 11:19:11

We got some from the chemist last week.

He didn’t get the ducks in line did he?

Jane43 Mon 13-Dec-21 11:26:43

If you have relatives who work in retail they are available for staff in most large stores. Our son and DIL work at Morrisons and they are encouraged to take them home and test regularly. We had two from them yesterday and as we have an invitation to go for a meal with family on Boxing Day we will test before we go out.

maddyone Mon 13-Dec-21 11:44:59

Is it BJ’s personal responsibility to order lateral flow tests?

No, but he could have checked before making his 'announcement' that there would be enough available for increased demand.

As Wwmk2 says, he didn't get his ducks in line first...

Maybe he’s concentrating on organising the massive increase in the booster vaccination programme, among endless other things which require his time and attention.

But no, let’s forget about all that and just take the opportunity for another Boris bash.

My local pharmacy would only give out one pack. They have now made it more difficult as the pharmacist sent me away with a leaflet saying you have to scan a QR code before requesting a pack. I avoided this by ordering online, which was not offered on the leaflet the pharmacist sent me away with. If this is no longer available, not sure what else I can do.

That is not good enough. He has oversight and needs to ask the questions.

Johnson is not up to it.

What, and you think he's doing that himself?

Jane71 Mon 13-Dec-21 12:22:03

I can't order any online either. What are we going to do?

Care to explain why he didn't inform the people who are supposed to be carrying out the programme before he actually announced it? That's kind of an important aspect of 'organisation' isn't it?

Anyway, he's rowing back on it now. Despite what he said in his surprise to all involved announcement about everyone getting a booster by the end of December we are now being told that everyone is to be offered a booster by then...

So, omicron has a few more weeks left in which to run rampant. Infections doubling every 2 days I understand.

And the first death in hospital from omicron has just been announced...

Pray?

Nannan2 Mon 13-Dec-21 12:31:26

We do what others have suggested already.try other outlets.we need to to do regularly as sons college says do 2- 3 times a week.i tell him to ask college for them but he forgets?

Nannan2 Mon 13-Dec-21 12:34:20

If youre staying in & not going anywhere i guess you could get PCR tests then wait for results back?

granfromafar Mon 13-Dec-21 12:34:34

I ordered a pack on Fri evening and they were delivered Saturday morning.

Of course there's been huge demand as of last night's announcement. While 30 year olds were immediately online booking their boosters yesterday evening, they were obviously at the same time ordering their LFTs because they are going clubbing and partying next week and need them as proof of entry. The two go together and of course the websites crashed and supplies ran out, my children were in that boat. Temporary blip.
