1922 Committee invite letters of no confidence.

It has emerged that the entire committee membership voted against Johnson during the covid vote.

I am surprised tbh that it has come now, but looking back over the time since Johnson took office, it has been a debacle almost from start to finish, so perhaps one shouldn’t be surprised.

However, I doubt whether this will come to anything, although there are a few fancying their chances.

Members can e-mail in and follow their e-mail with a phone call to Graham Brady. Over the Christmas period, so the idea that Johnson might hope that the break would put some of his problems to bed have been dashed.

I live a few minutes drive from my lovely children and their families, how lucky am I and we see them all the time, must be sad for you living 1000skm away especially as you age and get infirm and with Covid perhaps you might not be able to make the trip in the future must be a worry for you. How sad. I feel sorry for you.

And I'll say it again I won't be locked down again if I want to see my family I will. Only an idiot would listen to Boris and Co after party gate, so by all means if you want to listen to Boris if he cancels Christmas and sit on your own please yourself but I'm spending it with my fantastic family. And yes I followed the lock down restriction to the letter, just going out once a day etc last time but no enough is enough, obviously I wear my mask and take hygiene precautions when I'm out and about shopping.

Happy Christmas ?

If they do lock us down I for one am taking no notice

Oh dear.

Well I can think of others words to use- but that would not be allowed, So I will repeat 'oh dear' - and this is how we will get back in full lock down and schools closed again in January.

I have travelled 1000km to be with family after being on our own last year, at huge cost. But we will abide by the rules, if they change in the meantime. Because we want to avoid the above at all costs.

How selfish can people be!

I’m talking about the attitudes shown by those who won’t wear masks (not can’t) and who ignore lockdown or dont get the vaccine

Galaxy Mon 20-Dec-21 22:46:25

It's not about not being told what to do although I dont think that is necessarily a character flaw, in many cases it's the exact opposite, it's rather that I wouldnt take Johnsons advice on how to look after a goldfish let alone take his advice on my familys health. I havent followed his guidance throughout, by that I mean we were wearing masks in the first lockdown when the British government were saying not necessary. I will look at the actions of other countries etc, but no I have no plan of following any guidance issued by the current PM.

Lucca Mon 20-Dec-21 21:55:54

I could post a reply. I thought your comment epitomised the silly “you can’t tell me what to do” attitude which prevails in England.

Lucca Mon 20-Dec-21 21:54:50

Dominic Raab has just explained it all away. You need to be wearing a suit1 How can any sane person follow this lot anymore?

Maudi Mon 20-Dec-21 12:39:52

If Boris locks England down again I think the no confidence letters will be flying in.

Ah well! You've got GB News and whatever Farage's latest political party is called Urmstongran. I'm sure you'll be welcome.

If you watched GB News you would see/hear that most commentators are not behind Boris.
I’ve just been watching a blogger from Conservativehome. com. His comments were more scathing than any you would hear on more mainstream news outlets.

I've understood that to be because they are further to the right than Johnson appears to be (though as he has no real political policy it's hard to know where he is on the political spectrum)?

Correct! I didn't mention anything about being behind Johnson.

A question for everyone really, whether you think the parties matter or not? All these people 'in the know' that met up, socialised, partied, met their illicit lover etc etc. How come they were not worried about the 'virus' and therefore carried on?

Of course these parties matter. Most people spent the first summer of the pandemic doing exactly what they'd been asked to do. Now they're being smacked in the face for being conscientious and public spirited.

I'm sure I don't need to rehearse a very long list of what most people were having to do to 'obey the rules'?

You’re implying there’s nothing to worry about are you ? Dear oh dear.

Alegrias1 Mon 20-Dec-21 08:52:42

Because they're idiots?

I wouldn't even consider Sunak as being acceptable. He'd have the country in damaging and pointless austerity and support the deregulation that the ERG Brexiters so desperately want.

And sell off the NHS.

Keffie12 Sun 19-Dec-21 13:42:52

He isn't going anywhere. Who is going to want to take over at this time? No one.

Frost has now jumped ship too. Nothing to do with the rubbish he spouted about why he was leaving. All to do with Brexshit as he realises he can't get done what the hardliners want. He doesn't want to take the flak.

They are all making plenty of noise. I doubt it is going to happen. Besides look at the choices. Only Sunak who is any possibility.

The rest are a liability in one way or another. The Tories only had one mantra to get them in power, with the ''get Brexshit done'' which it never will be.

Just look at the main names that come to main Gove (no charisma or personality even though he is clever) Rees Mogg (out of the 18 century and gaffe prone) Patel (evil) Raab (too stupid) Javid (only redeeming feature was he quit as treasurer)

There never has been such a lack lustre, corrupt, one dimensional, boring, inane government in history

Lucca Sat 18-Dec-21 08:00:22

Idon’t care who paid for Boris’ wallpaper and I can’t bring myself to a boiling rage over cheese and wine gatherings

Of course you don’t. Who cares about corruption as long as Brexit got done

What’s wrong with 3 jabs a year to keep us safe ? Be thankful you’re not in a country which has not enough vaccine.
