Apparently he disillusioned.

Oh well.

It isn’t just enormous, it is a disaster. We just seem to be falling deeper and deeper into a bottomless pit.

Coastpath Sat 18-Dec-21 22:45:06

Thank heavens we have the strong and stable Tories in power. Things could be a complete shambles otherwise.

Oh no‼️ Brexit as I voted for is b——-ed now. It’ll be Brexit Lite.

What a shame!

Urmstongran Sat 18-Dec-21 22:52:23

Frost understood Brexit completely and would clearly have triggered A16- it’s perfectly allowed for in the withdrawal agreement. Something happened to Boris. ?Carrie’s influence. Who knows. Brussels will be rubbing their hands with glee just waiting for some sappy Minister of BRINO to take Frost’s place.

This is far worse than Thursday’s by election defeat. At least there Boris only lost one MP and still had a 79 majority. Mind you he’s wasted this anyway stupid man. He’s gone soft. Net Zero will cost him dearly at the GE too.

Well I for one am feeling a little bit more optimistic about our economic and political future than I did a few days ago. First North Shropshire and now the departure of the non elected Frost. Enjoy your tea and biscuits Urmonstongran, nice mug of hot chocolate before bed for me, sleep well!

He was unelected and not even a bureaucrat up against a myriad of people with actual brains who bothered to read the small print of the back of a fag packet so called oven ready bodge up that was Brexit. The U.K. has had to quietly withdraw all the blustering threats about the. ECJ and A16 as it was obviously such a move would be even more disasterous than the sh*t creek we are already in.

Mamie Sun 19-Dec-21 04:49:27

Another mediocrity who flounced when faced with political reality and the failure of the sunlit uplands. Good riddance.

vegansrock Sun 19-Dec-21 07:28:37

They’ll replace him with some other unelected crony/ dimwit who has swallowed the lies and will get a peerage for doing bugger all.

Whitewavemark2 Sun 19-Dec-21 07:31:07

He was an unelected civil servant who job it is is to serve the government in power.

Not to have opinions of his own.

It has been clear as the nose on your face that what he was proposing was never, ever going to come to fruition. As a result we have completely squandered time, the economy and goodwill.

Not really a Civil Servant WW2.
More of an over promoted whisky salesman.

I cannot understand how anyone ever thought Boris would make a good Prime Minister.

Every Londoner I know and even ones I meet casually, like the driver of the taxi i was in yesterday, think he was a completely useless mayor, from the money wasted on a Thames bridge that was never built onwards.

Mamie Sun 19-Dec-21 07:44:43

I would far rather have a proper career Civil Servant experienced in trade negotiations than some of the elected loonies around at the moment.

LadyGracie Sun 19-Dec-21 07:47:46

He's probably suffering from the worst headache from repeatably banging his head against the proverbial brick wall.

love0c Sun 19-Dec-21 07:49:40

At last someone prepared to vote with their feet.

Urmstongran Sun 19-Dec-21 07:53:43

Under his tenure as London Mayor knife crime went down significantly (look at it now under Sadiq Khan it’s scary) and the 2012 Olympic Games were a huge success. He exceeded the low expectations of him and was elected a second time so it seems most Londoners liked him.

?. Yes in 2016 just before the election he was saying what an utter disaster leaving Europe would be.

These turncoats eh?

Johnson, Frost, Truss none of them bringing an ounce of good to the country.

Yes but a civil servant who follows the rules, and doesn’t get above themselves.

I’m a Londoner and Londoners certainly don’t like Johnson now, he was a useless mayor wasting money on vanity projects and getting caught out dishing out jobs to his friends ( nothing new there) , spending time round at pole dancers flats when he was supposed to be working, not to mention his promises of not closing fire and police stations which he then did in spades. He got elected twice as the Labour party put up pretty useless / unpopular candidates.

TopsyIrene06 Sun 19-Dec-21 08:28:27

Frost's resignation made my week and his replacement will unmake it and ditto for BJ's replacement. I repeat, be careful what you wish for.

The resignation has huge implications although if you know differently, I am all ears.

vegansrock Sun 19-Dec-21 08:28:27

Plus Tory Party cuts in police numbers don’t help crime figures.

A PM elects his own Ministers , didn’t you know that. I heard Frost speaking, he left as he wasn’t happy with plan B . Good riddance to a man who doesn’t want to help protect the people of this country. Sure Macron etc will be wetting themselves laughing though.

Suppose you idolise Khan who seems to be doing nothing about the murder capital of Europe.

Urmstongran Sun 19-Dec-21 08:48:33

I imagine the joy today is unconfined for Remainers and Brussels now Frost has resigned. I get it. If I’d voted the other way I’d feel the same.
