Piers Corbyn Arrested

Apparently he told an anti-vax mob to hammer MP’s and burn down their offices. If this is the truth and he did say these things, he deserves to go to prison as he’s a danger.

After the deaths of Jo Cox and David Ames’s, it’s shocking that the, supposedly intelligent, brother of the former leader of the Opposition could be so irresponsible and reckless.

I suppose I would be labelled a leftie I would also be labelled a pacifist !! At least I have not been labelled an idiot or a Tory voter I'd take umbrage at that

BlueRuby Mon 20-Dec-21 13:52:38

Piers Corbyn should be thoroughly ashamed of himself and should be prosecuted for encouraging hate crime. He is a fascist. Anyone who behaves like this is a fascist. Fascists are not right wing or left wing - they are anyone who encourages hate crime because someone thinks or talks about something they don't like and want to shut them down, cause them violence, or prevent their right to free speech through fear of reprisals. Check the dictionary. I believe in free speech, I am left wing, and I have had uncomfortable conversations (mostly in the 1980s, but they still occasionally happen) with people who want to kill me/sterilize me (too late ha ha), for being married to a black man (I am white) or kill my mixed race children- I'm not kidding. You only have to look round the world to see that fascists are everywhere - all the countries where opposition - to left and right - is put down with violence. However I do believe that people who then try to incite other people to commit acts of violence based on hate and "cancel culture" should be prosecuted with the full weight of the law. There's a difference between having a difficult conversation and inciting someone else to violence.

Leave voters are stereotyped all the time - even on here.
Is that why you gave up GN?

No, I left my because grammar was picked on, and the fact that I hate all this negativity, blaming, hate and finger pointing. I have never stated what I voted and because of my job I would not be allowed to comment on such things.
No matter what I voted, what I believe in, no matter if I am vaccinated or not. I believe people have the right to choose what is right for them without all this hate being thrown at them. Piers Corbyn is an extremist and not typical of most lefties.
I may not believe in what you believe but I do believe in tolerance and kindness and that, seems to be I short supply on here.

I am pleased he has been arrested, inciting violence against anyone, never mind elected representatives, just because he disapproves of their opinions is despicable.

Calistemon Mon 20-Dec-21 12:55:02

You don't have to read the threads, Gillycats, if it upsets you.

Just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't mean they should go away

^I think that most of the people who voted for Brexit weren't much interested in the EU before the referendum campaign, had very little idea of how the EU actually 'worked' and were wide open to be stirred up by demagoguery.Having registered their vote and voted for Johnson, who has 'got Brexit done', they have lapsed into their usual state of indifference and can be easily persuaded that all the UK'ss woes are a result of covid. I suspect that we could slide back into the Single market without a squeak from most of them.^

Judgmental, much?

Precisely! No wonder no one in their right minds votes for the bigoted racist socialists who insist on making derogatory comments about others.

Sounds as if Piers Corbyn should be sectioned for everybody’s safety.

... I've just read a comment on Facebook - the woman called him a "Legend" and thanked him for his 'support'.

I thought at first it was sarcasm / irony - but looked at her profile. It wasn't.

I don't know if she's seen the video of him and his rag-tag-and-bobtail bunch of failed 'rappers' on the tube rapping about farting in trousers, but I posted it to her in response - so she could take a good look at her "legend" in action.

... there's been no response...

Well, it wasn’t me, if that's what your suggesting. He not a "Legend" Nor are all lefties violent. Wasn’t Hitler from the right? Won’t be commenting or reading further.

I mean You’re before anyone comments on my grammar

If it wasn’t for the fact that he is the brother of Jeremy Corbyn the papers would not have made anything of his arrest - after all, how better to take another pop at JC - tainted by association

No! There used to be another man who was always inciting anarchy and he was often in the newspapers - forgotten his name, he had had a good education to degree level, courtesy of the State but never worked.

Anyway, why shouldn't someone who incites violence against politicians be shown IP in the media.

Two excellent MPs, one Labour, one Conservative, have been murdered, one was stabbed and his aide murdered - he is a danger and should be in custody.

I expect Jeremy is embarrassed by his antics.

Of course P Corbyn should be charged with inciting violence, etc., and in my opinion he's a nutter. Makes me wonder about other members of the family. Thank God JC never became PM. If Boris can make such a mess just imagine that alternative with Brexit and the pandemic. Would we ever have got a vaccine roll out underway?

What has Piers Corbyn's ridiculous behaviour got to do with his brother, and how would it have made any difference to the success or otherwise of a Jeremy Corbyn administration?

Should Prince Charles abdicate because of his brother's behaviour? I don't think that many who blame JC for PC's carryings on would support that, somehow.

I'm glad he's been arrested. Let's hope he's appropriately charged.

Absolutely, he is a criminal, inciting violence.

Agreed. Is he in custody, does anyone know?

Agreed that it is childish, but my point was that far from not admitting that they voted Leave, many Brexiteers have crowed and batted back any criticism or questioning of how the result has benefited us as sour grapes.

I voted Remain, and would do so again. I don't think that Leavers are stupid, although I agree with Maisie that many knew little and cared less about the EU before the referendum. To be fair, that is true of many Remainers, too, although I don't understand why people would vote for a radical change unless they fully understood the implications, and it is becoming increasingly clear that not even the Leave-voting politicians had thought things through.
