That’s right Alegrias. I have someone who always does that who can well afford to send cards and give to charity. I always think it’s a lazy cop out but still (reluctantly) send him a card every year.

I think it’s a lovely photo and not at all annoying. Unlike the nasty and entitled comments in this thread.

Must protect their privacy, mustn’t let the plebs see them like that common William and Kate do. How nice to hear yet more about their bl**dy charitable donations. Bah humbug!

My cousin and his wife have just sent everybody a message on Facebook saying that they won't be sending Xmas cards but have made a donation to charity X. Several other friends have done the same thing.

I guess I'd best just message them all and say that they are attention seeking poseurs with no sense of propriety.

Patronising!

NotTooOld Thu 23-Dec-21 16:42:03

It's a good pic but they are certainly not making charitable donations on my behalf. I can do my own.

Alegrias I know grin

Well they didn’t send me a card so I’m not offended by their donations. The kids look happy, blimey people can complain about not seeing them “properly” - if they were just staring at the camera there’d be complaints about that as well.

I guess I just prefer photographs to actually show the subject and not just a sideways glimpse of them. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but it's almost like they're teasing the viewer and not giving them a proper look.

They just can't help themselves can they? Just no insight at all.

Why are there donations on my behalf? Am I too mean to give? Too thick to pick the “right” charities?
Where’s the sacrosanct privacy?

AGAA4 Thu 23-Dec-21 16:30:17

They have two lovely children. I wish they would just live quietly with them. I don't want to hear about their charitable donations. I wouldn't broadcast mine.

Chestnut Thu 23-Dec-21 16:15:32

Yes, it's a lovely picture but would prefer to see them properly.

Galaxy Thu 23-Dec-21 16:07:22

The children look gorgeous.

Check out the parallel thread along with this one!

Chestnut Thu 23-Dec-21 15:51:24

Ha ha, me neither! Perhaps we are just too modest.

Sparklefizz Thu 23-Dec-21 15:50:18

Yes, I agree about the list of charitable donations. Funnily enough I didn't list mine in my Christmas cards smile

Chestnut Thu 23-Dec-21 15:48:59

So the glorious couple have released the first picture of Baby Lilibet on their Happy Holiday Season card, but why are they always so annoying in everything they do? Both children's faces are only partially visible, we don't get a good look at them. Okay, their choice I suppose, but why?

Even more annoying is that they are once again boasting about their charitable donations. As discussed on another GN thread called 'Doing Good' it is generally agreed that charity work should be done privately with modesty, and not to publicise your good works. Instead we have: As we look forward to 2022 we have made donations on your behalf to several organizations that honor and protect families - from those being relocated from Afghanistan to American families in need of paid parental leave.
Just to make sure we all know how wonderful they are I suppose.
