Shinamae Sun 26-Dec-21 13:07:45

She was a DJ and if I remember rightly Keith Chegwin sister

Galaxy Sun 26-Dec-21 13:08:07

Oh no.

BlueBelle Sun 26-Dec-21 13:09:22

Thank you shinamae she’s never crossed my path

A trailblazer in 1982 with a couple of others for the subsequent female DJs on Radios 1 & 2. Bless her.

I saw that just now. It's sad as she was 66 and far too young. I liked her as a broadcaster and she had great taste in music.

So sad she was 66 and her brother Keith was 60 far too young

FannyCornforth Sun 26-Dec-21 13:24:17

She was just so friendly sounding and a radio natural.
The music industry in the 80’s and Radio 1 in particular must have been quite a toxic environment for her to work in as well

So sad and far too young. I remember her on Top of the Pops (first female to host it) and late night on Radio 2.

Galaxy Sun 26-Dec-21 13:35:51

Yes that family have lost two people at a relatively young age. I liked her as a broadcaster.

I was shocked when Dh told me just now! Far too young. I didn’t know she was Keith Chegwin’s brother, how sad for their families. sad

tiredoldwoman Sun 26-Dec-21 14:55:06

Yes, I've just read it on the newspage . How sad .....

Gwyneth Sun 26-Dec-21 15:02:48

I hadn’t realised Keith Chegwin was her brother and that he had died a couple of years ago. I remember Janice Long very well from Top of the Pops. She was the first female presenter of the programme.
