It's just a cold

I have been constantly worried about the long term effect of covid infection. I read research very early on which detailed the internal organs which can be affected by covid and I haven't seen anything since which contradicts it.

I worry that our very high omicron infection rates, which so many people, including our government, seem to be perfectly happy about, are actually contributing to serious problems for the future. I have been scoffed at on Gnet for this...

I found this long twitter thread. It confirms my fears. It's not written by a medic or a medical scientist, but the cited research mostly seems to be peer reviewed from reputable journals.

I'd very much appreciate comments from people who read the thread.

Rates are dropping very fast

Suspiciously fast, IMO. I've not seen rates drop that fast before over the last 2 years.

OTOH, the numbers of tests being carried out has dropped rapidly, too.

Didn't we have a shortage of both tests very recently?

Yes, he is being forced into it by the same culprits.

It will be interesting if a large % of the population, perhaps those over a certain age, 50, 60, 70? will choose to continue wearing masks, gel, etc, and not go out to many public places as they feel unsafe due to others not being careful anymore.

Reports I have read state that although certain restrictions will be lifted masks will be kept for now
Rates are dropping very fast and these restrictions that were brought in as it was unknown how big the wave would be. A lot of the fears were unfounded so no reason not to lift restrictions

I suspect this is because Boris is now in such a dire position that he can't rely on support to extend the restrictions beyond 26 Jan when I think they were due to be reviewed. It seems much too early when numbers of covid cases are still so high, albeit it seems dropping (unless that's due to people not being able to get tests). All very convenient I think. Time will tell but doesn't give me confidence to go shopping for instance when masks are no longer required.

10 days from now.

a senior Government source has confirmed almost all restrictions will end on January 26.

MayBeMaw ''As Lemongrove has pointed out , to say we in the U.K. are dropping all safety measures is mis-speaking on a grand scale.''

I was just a couple of weeks ahead.

Some of us may not wish to be identified by someone we would rather not hear from or meet again.

M0nica Sat 15-Jan-22 08:28:14

grannygravy Some of us use GN to write openly about all kinds of things and sometimes it is inhibiting to have someone who knows you, however benign their interest, effectively, though not intentionally monitoring everything you write, and in my case, posting comments on what is written.

I changed my name, regular posters, soon twigged who i was. I also spoke to my 'supervisor' and they have, as far as I know stopped.

Sometimes posters need to change their user name because they become ‘outed’ meaning someone they know recognises them. My daughter found me, but I didn’t change my name, I don’t think anyone else knows who I am. Well my husband does actually.

Unless you are posting something personal and opening up a can of worms why is anonymity so vital?

Friends and family know my user name, I have nothing to hide or fear.

I had a techie problem and rejoined but changed the spelling of my name but it's annoying me so I may try to change again.

JillyJosie2 Thu 13-Jan-22 10:41:03

No Calistemon it's not, it's a response to people who noticed that I, along with others, had lurched into having two usernames, not accounts as far as I was concerned, and they decided to be unpleasant and report me.

I've had a very good exchange with GN admin about it and it is now sorted. Believe it or not, as I explained, Google in some cases (mine) invites you in as a different user or something of the sort, I don't know the exact techie answer.

Reporting people is one of those sneaky nasty GN manoeuvres, I've seen it before, let's hope that's the end of it.

Alegrias & Rosie Thanks for your kind remarks yesterday DM seems to be ok today - really was " just a cold" ? or rather that she didn't want to do our shopping trip to get shoes for herself because of the weather. ?
Still no LF kits yet & DD is giving hers to a neighbour who can't go to work without one!
Tomorrow's another day.

Hope you manage to get some
It has necessary in my experience to be quite vigilant as my experience in the last week of positive cases it does appear just as a cold would
My grandaughter has also tested positive and is still bouncing around with nothing obvious
I have been in contact with all the positive members of my family probably the most but still negative.

Calistemon Wed 12-Jan-22 22:57:08

Is this a Spot the Difference game JillyJosie2/Jillyjosie or musical devices?

?

JillyJosie2 Wed 12-Jan-22 22:28:55

Exactly growstuff. Thank you for reporting my post, joyous pedant, or whoever it was, I've now got nicely sorted out. I would have thought it was obvious that one would choose a different name if it was deliberately mischievous or that it was clear as day if the name was repeated with a number after it that it was the same person.

Still, murky minds think dark thoughts, I'm not bovered, life is too short.

There's a few Covid brains around here. Never mind, things do get better after a while.

Meryl I thought I was the only poster living in Uzbekistan?

I can honestly say that Lemongrove and I rarely agree on anything. But I shall now refer to her as my "hanger on".

BTW - I think you've found a bug. Shall we tell GNHQ?

?
We could form a small gang....a very small one.

Blimey every day is a school day on GN

Really cannot see the necessity for multiple usernames other than mischief

But if you were up to mischief and wanted another username, surely you'd choose something which is nothing like the original. hmm

I suppose if Jillyjosie doesn't have her log-in details/password to hand she might have to keep rejoining:
then one day you are using a different device and you don't have your details on hand and you are invited to enter GN via Google

My memory is reasonable, so far, but we never know if or when our memories might start failing.

With my limited IT knowledge most folks with multiple devices have them linked
