I like them all, but particularly the profile one which has a timeless quality.

I think it’s the hair, nothing like as nice as it usually looks, and the eye makeup which is usually much darker.

Apparently on a visit William told a trainee hairdresser that Catherine's hair is a "nightmare" to style. It does go wrinkly, frizzy, curly!
Probably not stringy though!!

The first and third photo are just lovely

The middle one though? Looks like it belongs in the 80s. Stylistically, it’s so dated. She looks lovely as always, but it’s a truly terrible and aging photo.

I have to say that I recognised Catherine straight away, the photo’s are lovely and she looks just as good in real life so no airbrushing/ photoshopping necessary.
Must say...hope that she won’t get any thinner as time goes on.

Behold!

I prefer the one that FannyCornforth posted above.

Natural and lovely, in fact I didn't even realise the one in the red dress was Catherine at first glance.

Happy 40th Birthday Catherine

I wish I had looked like that at 40 ! I agree about the photographs, she looks stunning in the natural unposed ones but I don't really like these, they do look airbrushed to me as she is so terribly thin, gaunt even.

Bizarrely I think they've made her nose look bigger in the first photo

MayBee70 Sun 09-Jan-22 14:10:57

Am I alone in thinking they’re not very flattering? Apart from the last one, the Victorian looking one.

Stunning photos but I thought she looked a bit thin especially when compared with photos from 10 years ago. Happy Birthday anyway she has matured into a self confident woman who is an asset to the RF

Happy 40th Birthday to the Duchess of Cambridge. I'm afraid to say I am not over keen on these photos. They seem to have been tinkered with in some way. I know it happens a lot when the subject dares to weigh more than 6 stone and doesn't have a flawless skin. They get airbrushed within an inch of their lives. I think there are much better photos of Kate showing her as she is, a natural beauty.

Peasblossom Sun 09-Jan-22 14:00:09

I don’t think it looks like her either.

Is it the teeth? I wish there was some way to do an overlay with a natural photo to see what’s been changed.

I do think she’s a naturally very attractive woman.

JaneJudge Sun 09-Jan-22 13:57:46

It doesn't look like her does it? She does have a natural beauty though, generally. it all looks effortless but I bet she's up and in the gym, having lovely nutritious food cooked for her etc. smile

Kn = on

Namsnanny Sun 09-Jan-22 13:30:36

These are fantastic photos, but I like the one of her kn the Sunday Times magazine cover better

JenniferEccles Sun 09-Jan-22 13:08:14

William chose well didn’t he?
It has been well documented that he was determined not to make the same mistake as his parents, and that made him determined to make sure that any girl he became serious about knew as much as possible about what life would be like as a royal.

Very sensibly they took their time. William got to know Catherine’s family, and it’s often been said that he loved spending time with the Middleton clan

aggie Sun 09-Jan-22 12:56:32

I like photos to have at least a passing resemblance to the sitter , this photographer hasn’t managed that

Nightsky2 Sun 09-Jan-22 12:54:09

She is stunning and her hair is magnificent.
I wish her a very happy 40th.,birthday.

vegansrock Sun 09-Jan-22 12:50:56

Airbrushing is different from photo shopping.

Curlywhirly Sun 09-Jan-22 12:27:25

I think Catherine is beautiful and a real asset to the monarchy, but I am afraid I don't really like the photos; I don't think they do her justice, she looks far prettier in other photos. Love the dresses though.

tidyskatemum Sun 09-Jan-22 12:13:38

I honestly wondered who the photos were of when I first saw them in this morning’s press. I really don’t think they look much like the Catherine we see in everyday shots, who I think looks much better!

Germanshepherdsmum Sun 09-Jan-22 12:03:22

You’ve got my fear in one Fanny!!!?

Woodmouse Sun 09-Jan-22 11:56:09

Photo 1 doesn't look like her! Beautiful woman but I think photo 1 has been photoshopped beyond recognition which is a shame.

FannyCornforth Sun 09-Jan-22 11:55:34

Germanshepherdsmum

I agree Fanny but was too cowardly to say it!

I only plucked up the courage because you alluded to it first Shep!
I was a bit scared too tbh
(‘Stringy!?angry I’d like to see a picture of your hair FC!’ etc etc grin)

EllanVannin Sun 09-Jan-22 11:54:32

Beautiful. Natural and very Regal for a future Queen. Timeless.

My old mum would have said " do something with your hair " grin You weren't allowed to have flowing locks years ago.

Parsley3 Sun 09-Jan-22 11:49:06

The photos are certainly a far cry from her usual natural style. They remind me of the glamorous fashion shoots of old fashioned Hollywood stars like Rita Hayworth.
