I think he's worked bloody hard for a long time and needs a break

There’s already been a thread this morning. Seems he was only on secondment from the UoN. He was always due back in academia.

He has been such a stalwart during the pandemic I thought he would want to see it through to as near normality as it is likely to get.

He played tribute to everyone except Johnson.

I liked him the best. He never seemed as gloomy as some of the others.

He lives in our village. He’s lovely.

I also think that he may have wanted to put some distance before the enquiry. Not as if Covid is done yet.

I always liked him. He was the one who made sense to me. Sorry he is going.

I hope I live to read his memoirs!

He's staying until March. Seems reasonable that he's going back to his real job. Excellent person. So glad of his principled stance and good communication skills.
