The Telegraph is reporting that there were yet more parties held on the eve of Prince Philip's funeral.

So, one of the parties was a leaving do for James Slack, who is now deputy editor of The Sun.

I wonder how many other journalists have known about these parties all along?

Possibly Harry Cole political editor of The Sun and ex of Carrie Johnson?

I feel sorry for some civil servants who will be forced to take the blame for this mess and will lose their jobs, when the real responsibility lies elsewhere.

What annoys me is the way Grays investigation is being reported. The bbc said at lunch time “if Gray criticises Johnson”

She can’t. As a civil servant she can’t criticise her minister. All she can do is report facts. And those facts can be modified if her boss says so.

She could then act honourably and resign. That is all that is open to her.

Apparently Downing Street has apologized to the Queen. journalists were advised at a briefing earlier today. However, it was officials speaking to officials, not actually the PM speaking to the Queen. Furthermore whenever questions were about the apology the journos were told to wait until Sue Gray's report is published.

We really are a country with egg on our faces though.

We have been warned since Johnson was a school boy that he was someone who cannot stick to rules, who feels entitled, who lies, who is corrupt, whose moral compass doesn’t exist, who leaves a trail of broken individuals behind him as he continues to peruse the Johnson agenda.

Yet we chose him to lead our great country.

Where was the sense? It’s no good clutching our pearls now and declare we didn’t realise. We did. We need to take responsibility for what we’ve done and plot a better way forward.

They are experts at organising the piss ups and they are experts at pissing all over everyone, too.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 14-Jan-22 11:48:37

There appears to be someone/group of people who think Mr.Johnson has served his purpose and have decided it’s time for him
to go, hence the drip feed of parties at No.10 and other allegations.

Not sure how long he will remain PM

One thing that has now been proven though is the present PM and Government could run a piss up in a brewery ????

Cummings did warn that it wasn't a good idea to lie as the truth will always come out.
There will be pictures too, I think, before long.
I do feel for the queen, but no more than anyone else who was betrayed by Johnson et al.

It took a long time for Cummings’ version of the truth to come out.

That said, what is it going to take for all people in Government, all parties, to realise that everything they say, do and write is watched, recorded and will be used against them at some point in the future?

I think that the current government were so bouyed up by their mistaken belief that they have the whole country behind them, and with an unassailable majority, that they thought nothing could touch them .

eazybee Fri 14-Jan-22 11:35:58

I remember all the fuss made when some people had to forgo their television programmes when the death of Prince Philip was announced, so this thread seems a tad hypocritical.

That said, what is it going to take for all people in Government, all parties, to realise that everything they say, do and write is watched, recorded and will be used against them at some point in the future?

Mrs Thatcher did have voice training to get rid of her squeaky, mumsy, strident voice.

It didn't improve her message though. It made her sound desperately insincere.

Love the way Truss is trying to modulate her voice ????Only one guess why that may be.

James Slack worked for the DM and was responsible for the headline screaming that the judiciary are the enemy of the people.

Johnson is monstrous. It was well known when he was voted in by his Party that he was an ambitious liar who would do anything to gain power. He booted out all the decent Tories so it’s hardly surprising that the culture at Downing Street has turned out to be rotten to the core.

Farzanah Fri 14-Jan-22 09:22:39

The apologists & MPs who are coming out in support of Johnson are not doing him or themselves any favours me thinks.

Casdon Fri 14-Jan-22 08:24:00

What a terrifying thought karmalady, Boris rising from the ashes reminded me of the scene with Voldemort when Harry touched his face in The Philosophers Stone, the ashes gathered and flew off.

Shadow Attorney General @EmilyThornberry spoke very well this morning
'The culture had developed at No.10 where it was thought that the laws didn't apply to them.'

BlueBelle Fri 14-Jan-22 08:19:08

Karmalady hopefully your name will prove a heading in the near future for the shameful Johnson and the rest of his SHAMEFUL crew
Karma, karma, karma.

Sorry, Maisie, I didn't see your thread when I posted mine. I did look, too - I can only blame decrepitude.

No worries, DD. My thread title was too discreet. ?

I am so ? that No 10 seems to have been treated like s substitute night club while restrictions closed the 'real' ones. What on earth were the people who work there thinking?

Sarnia Fri 14-Jan-22 08:12:36

I think the country will long remember the image of the Queen sitting on her own during her husband's funeral. She knew what the rules were for others but didn't ignore them to suit herself.

Doodledog Fri 14-Jan-22 08:04:01

Do you see police activity to catch criminals as vindictive behaviour towards lawbreakers, too?

How can reporting of illegal activity be worse than the activity itself?
