Unfortunately Germanshepherdsmum I don’t know what the usual channels are. I am a contributor not a recipient.

Perhaps they might mend the Scottish potholes another poster mentioned!

I don't think a penny of it is going to Andrew's lawyers.

Even if HM decided to help him out, it would come from her own private money anyway.
He can't be short of a bob or two himself either.

We're getting all of it.

Sorry to disappoint GSM

I expect you’ll get some of it via the usual channels Espee.

I think the revenue from the leases comes to the Scottish Government Esspee. Plus there are all the other associated benefits.

According to the BBC the profits will go to the Scottish government.

^Since 1760, the net income of The Crown Estate has been surrendered to the Exchequer by the Monarch under successive Civil List Acts, passed at the beginning of each reign^.

Does that make you feel relieved, Esspee?

Thank you Callistemon. I would have much preferred that it be given to the Scottish people to build up a fund such as the Norway oil fund. Our oil was sold and the money squandered by Westminster. Is this money going to go the same way I wonder.

I wish I could do a flow chart on here
?

This explains more fully:

The Crown Estate is a trust which looks after property owned by the Queen in her capacity as monarch as opposed to owned by her in her private capacity which she can do with as she will. She can’t just snaffle all the proceeds of Crown Estate property. It belongs to the monarchy as an institution.

How does this push up energy prices? No one’s likely to give land to an energy company. I wouldn’t no matter how rich I was. If they need the land for operational purposes they have to pay for it.

Esspee Mon 17-Jan-22 15:05:56

I googled “who owns Crown Estate” and the answer was Queen ElizabethII (sic) (in right of the crown).

So where does this money go?

Baggs Mon 17-Jan-22 14:55:53

Alegrias1

It's the Crown Estate. Not the Queen.

Ah. Seems I've got muddled about the Crown Estate but I think what I said is true in general terms.

Baggs Mon 17-Jan-22 14:54:24

Thought I'd read somewhere that the Queen will not pay Andrews legal bill.

The selling off of rights to plots, often owned by large landowners who are already rich (like the Queen), is partly what is pushing up energy prices.

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 17-Jan-22 14:51:49

Are you sure it’s the Queen in her personal capacity rather than the Crown Estate?

Esspee Mon 17-Jan-22 14:50:06

…….for selling off rights for plots for major offshore wind projects in Scotland.

I looked it up and guess who benefits? The Queen.
She must be relieved. It might cover Andrew’s legal bills.

I am usually pro the Queen while hoping she will be the last to rule over us, but surely the people of Scotland should be the ones to benefit!!!
