You thought Starmer was on top form? I have not seen one commentator agreeing with you. No Conservative government will ever be any good in your eyes, but at least you make me smile! Starmer is a clever man but he does not have any charisma. While he remains as leader, Labour will find it difficult to break through. Andy Burnham would have more voter appeal surely?

So sad that that people don't vote on merit but on charisma. Boris Johnson was labelled charismatic. Donald Trump, ditto. Look how that ended up.
Until elections stop being Mr(s) Popularity contests then we continue to have eejits in power.

It was a good watch.
1) BJ is a serial liar. He only cares for BJ.
Partygate has to be seen in context of recent lack of morality - flat redecoration in return for? sex with Jennifer Arcuri, never mind more historic indiscretions.
2) Starmer is a seriously competent man and did think on his feet yesterday. Loved “comfort from fact his staff can pack a case” and “if a pint and a takeaway was all operation big dog had to worry about” or similar words. He is not an entertainer and sadly this may hinder him. Just an old fashioned good person.
3) BJ claims the vaccine roll out as his own. Same re NHS despite his mates wanting to privatise. Nauseates me.
4) Corbyn would have been a disaster.
5) The MP who crossed the floor will know his days are numbered. He will not be automatically re-selected to stand again. Not sure I like him but crossing the floor does take courage (or stupidity): He represents the constituents not just those who voted for him, whether conservative or protest voters due to Corbyn / antisemitism.
6) Sue Gray will present a masterly civil service-speak report that doesn’t really reveal anything so BJ is confident he will fight on. However, partygate may be his undoing in the long run. All his boosterish posturing and his unethical behaviour to date has been forgive by those who like to see an all too human character as PM (a bit like Trump) but harder to forgive such poor judgment when we were all suffering under the rules.

Have you heard of the Forde report/inquiry Marjgran? It has been deliberately suppressed by the current Labour party centrists. Did Corbyn not address reports of antisemitism or were those acting against him from within the party responsible for this and much more? Blair was quoted as saying rather a Tory government than Labour under Corbyn.
I know that if Corby had become PM we wouldn't be suffering the stench of this current cabal.

I did. How the PM could stand there and say the cost of living had gone down under his government on the very day we had the new frightening inflation figures was rich, even for him!

Andy Burnham doesn't appeal to me unless he's changed his colours. The reason being that during the leadership campaign when he was a candidate at the same time as Corbyn all he talked about was the poorly paid employees in the state sector - cooks, cleaners and dustbin men etc. I accept that they are poorly paid and deserve a decent wage but there was no mention of poorly paid workers in the private sector who often work in poor conditions.

Tinydancer I agree with you that Corbyn is a decent man. I think his problem was that he react to well to questioning by tv journalists and always behaved (in the interviews that I saw) as though he was under attack. He was at his best when talking to a small group. I saw some of those speeches televised and he was very good. It's a shame also that the right wing press were so opposed to him.

Given that the Tory alt right and the ERG etc are in favour of a small state and reduced taxation there was no way Corbyn was going to get a fair press.

Andy Burnham seems to be a successful mayor of Manchester but that's a bit different from being the PM of a major european country.
Johnson was't all that good as London mayor. I still wince at the memory of him crossing the Olymics venue on one of those rope slide things.

The House has always been a fiasco, at least when people turn up, is probably no different, apart from no bread rolls flying, of lunch time at Eton.
I have no time for most of them. No one with a brain could vote Corbyn, As for the present one, the new name sums him up brilliantly, no ideas, just ridicules everything, we would never have been out of lockdown, he couldn’t make a decision, so let’s stick with Boris for now he’s the best of a bad bunch, but gets results and that’s saying something,

I don't agree he's the best of a bad bunch. What results do you think he gets? None that are good for the country, that's for sure.

He's an incompetent charlatan and I'm old-fashioned enough to believe that leaders should lead by example.

If you actually followed politics, rather than tabloid headlines, you would realize that the person who you are happy to ridicule as "Captain Hindsight" regularly raises objections to bad policies- and suggests alternatives - long before they can correctly be put down to hindsight.

No wonder politics is where it is when so many people lap up the media c**p without question!

There is no evidence of BJ’s competence, of any sort from anyone who has ever worked with him. Luck and bluster. Sadly almost everyone who worked with Corbyn found him incompetent too, which is why he couldn’t carry the party. His return to left wing ideals was refreshing but he had no ability to implement or to compromise or to work in a team, better suited to protest or a Sixth Form debating society. Starmer is a very different man. There are many who worked with him who praise him. He is too wordy so he may not cut through the sound bite culture but I can only hope. In the meanwhile maybe it will be Sunak, but he has lukewarm backing in the party but high ratings amongst voters. Sadly most voters are switched off and probably have little idea of who is who, except BJ who has been guffawingly omnipresent.

Do you actually watch parliament today and PMQT? And where is the evidence that Starmer has wanted the country to be in a permanent lockdown? I do feel, though, that the House of Commons has become an anachronism and all of the shouting and jeering belongs in a previous century. It might be good entertainment but I don’t think it’s the way to run a country these days.

Allsorts Captain Hindsight is not a new name. Starmer's ben called that since not long after the start of covid. If you were a regular watcher of PMQs you would see that Starmer often rattles Johnson who then goes off on a bluster about the vaccinations. Johnson has a habit of not answering questions but deflecting from the topic. And it's then that he starts to call names.

According to Whingenight last night the back stabbing turncoat did not consult his constituents or his local association and has incurred much ill feeling in his patch. This attention seeking twerp can kiss any career in politics goodbye come the GE. He’s young. Plenty of time to reflect in the years ahead how hubris got the better of him.

The tories wouldn’t have won Bury South without The split in the Labour vote. The sitting Labour mp faced an accusation of sexual harassment which he denied. He left the Labour Party and became an independent. He said because the allegation wasn’t investigated, left to run and fester. He was Jewish and blamed the problems/delay lack if investigation on anti semitism under Corbyn.
The constituency has a large Jewish community. Fear of anti semitism under a Corbyn led LP was an issue
I recall people saying the Labour candidate was excellent. She acknowledged many Jewish Labour voters couldn’t vote Labour because of corbyn

I know little of Christian W but read today he’d been in discussion with Labour for some time
