DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE'S NEW PATRON ROLES

I think it is terrific that Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge has taken on the roles of patron of the English Rugby Football League and the English Rugby Football Union, roles both held by the AWOL Harry.

However, I do feel a tad irked that the behaviour of Harry and Andrew has led to other Royals being forced to take on far more duties. Do others feels the same?

William & Catherine have a young family, and if these regrettable circumstances with Harry & Andrew hadn't altered things they might have been 'allowed' to have a bit more time with their children while they grow up.

No, it’s all immaterial to me.

Summerlove Wed 02-Feb-22 13:29:03

I think people should be able to choose their roles. So I have no issue with Prince Harry.

Prince Andrew is another matter altogether.

The reason these two no longer have patronages is completely different. I find it disingenuous to compare the two as though the same.

I am not irked. The Royal Family are stepping up to take over those roles and carry out more duties because they have a sense of duty and consideration for the Queen, rather than entitlement.

Are you being intentionally provocative, Larsonsmum ?

As a staunch supporter of the royal family I am glad that the royals are taking on more roles, but even I doubt that the Cambridges work as hard as most parents of young families do, with both parents in full time jobs and all the household chores to be fitted into evenings and weekends.
They have plenty of time to see their children, and staff to help with domestic responsibilities.

There are 18 Royals all living in grand houses with very little rent or free at the public expense.

None of them work hard they hardly work at all.
They're all really on to a good thing.

They cost a lot of money £345 million altogether counting £105 million security and it does not come out of the Crown Estate its all publicly funded even though they are all extremely rich.

I'm not a royalist and I think all this patronage stuff is a load of nonsense especially when in relation to businesses rather than charities.

The English Rugby Football Union is very wealthy - tens of millions raised from ticket sales and broadcasting each year - and the players earn a decent wage.

Why does it need a patron? What does the patron do?

I'm sure that if the Duchess of Cambridge wanted to be a stay at home mum at this time in her life they could afford that. Not many have that priveledge.

DiscoDancer1975 Wed 02-Feb-22 15:40:23

No...doesn’t interest me in the slightest. I’m sure there are families working much harder than them, and actually doing jobs we’d miss if they stopped!

MissAdventure Wed 02-Feb-22 15:46:34

If she wanted to not "work", then she wouldn't.
Nobody is making her.

Kate1949 Wed 02-Feb-22 15:49:02

I couldn't care less.

There you have it Larsonsmum , now you know!!

Why not bring in Beatrice and Eugenie to help out? And what about the Gloucester and Kent children? There’s loads of them. Princess Margaret’s grandchildren? Yes, Catherine’s life is an absolute bed of roses, so long as she doesn’t read what the tabloids say about her.

Jaberwok Wed 02-Feb-22 16:39:32

Perhaps they don't want to. They're not part of the Firm and don't benefit from the civil list, or whatever it is called. You never hear anything about the minor royals except when they get married or something like that, and then only very briefly.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 02-Feb-22 17:03:39

Hardly any of the RF receive anything from the Civil List - it might just be the Queen now since Philip and the Queen Mother died.

Kim19 Wed 02-Feb-22 17:07:09

I wish I could believe she was in a position to say no if she really didn't want to.

Jaberwok Wed 02-Feb-22 17:17:16

Yes you're right, only the Queen does now.

Luckygirl3 Wed 02-Feb-22 17:27:38

No problem with Prince Harry giving stuff up - he did not choose to be born into the royal family and has the right to choose to leave. AS for Andrew ............

No, absolutely not.

This is absolutely fine imo.

The Queen and Prince Charles are trying to 'slim down' the Monarchy because that is what most people want and they have listened.

MissAdventure Wed 02-Feb-22 18:06:59

Beatrice and Eugenie have jobs, dont they?
The kind where they go into a,workplace.
