The SNP to cut off the bottom half of classroom doors!

Here we are 2 years into the pandemic SNP ministers are to spend £300,000 chopping the bottoms off hundreds of classroom doors in an attempt to stop the spread of Covid, under a “crackpot” plan unveiled yesterday.

Nicola Sturgeon defended the spending but Holyrood’s opposition parties lambasted the “DIY ventilation” plan as a “lazy solution”.

I find it quite illuminating that it's supposed that, whilst some of us have been having a titter at the sheer lunacy of Ms Sturgeon's anti COVID plans, we have somehow missed, minimised or ignored whatever else is going on in the news as well. Personally, I'm able to absorb and understand several more serious news topics at a time whilst still recognising, and laughing at, the odd scatterbrained, illogical news item. I appreciate however that others prefer to focus only on serious stuff. I'm currently not wetting myself though.

I not sure what posters are being accused of? I think everyone used the words crackpot plan * idea* proposition plus the conditional tense because they knew it would never happen.

True Calli, true. ?

If posters had read the OP, you did say the bottoms......of classroom doors, Urmstongran, not half.

Urmstongran Sun 06-Feb-22 17:36:30

The lie is the cutting the doors in half. And that's what everyone was attacking on...

Oh what’s a few inches between friends?
Once a door is cut/planed/severed/ruined, does it matter whether it be by 5cms or 5 inches?

The daft idea at ALL is what this thread was about!

love0c Sun 06-Feb-22 17:15:07

Callistermon You are right there! So very often they have been, IMO, personal. The ones on here were really aimed at Nicola Sturgeon.

Gwenisgreat1 Sun 06-Feb-22 12:16:14

Can' help thinking that NS is "Gan aff her heid'

Callistemon21 Sun 06-Feb-22 12:08:59

I've seen far worse personal insults in other threads.

Really unpleasant.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 06-Feb-22 12:08:12

Lucca obviously it is with some posters on GN.

I had no idea that it was against GN guidelines to post anything negative relating to Ms. Sturgeon or the SNP?

How many times ??? That’s not the problem

So can I be clear here. Are you saying lucca that I was personally ‘winding up’ Alegrias? I haven’t replied or made any reference to any of her posts. In fact I don’t even know what she said or what’s been going on. Perhaps you could explain? Would you also please quote on this thread any references that I have made re Algerias.

No I did not say that at all.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 06-Feb-22 11:53:34

It is totally out of order to continue the insult once you know of a posters disability.

Chewbacca Sun 06-Feb-22 11:42:40

Stressing your point to again draw attention to my medical disability is pretty low MaisieD sad

FarNorth Sun 06-Feb-22 11:29:12

Thanks Nannashirlz.
I hope they go for more sensible ways of ventilating classrooms.

(There seems to be a bit of a punch up going on around us. Had you noticed?)

^Have look at Chewbacca on page 2, wetting herself with laughter because Alegrias was getting^ upset.

Really MaisieD? Since I had a urostomy operation 4 years ago, I'm afraid that wetting myself is an all too common occurrence, particularly when my bag overfills. Thanks for pointing that out.

You really were, Chewbacca.

Aveline Sun 06-Feb-22 11:27:37

Well you can dare to post info that casts a well deserved negative light on NS but have to prepare yourself for an onslaught from the usual suspects!

MaizieD this story is not a lie

Plenty out there evidence

Anyway. I've said my bit and I'm off to more sane topics, like winkling Johnson out of No 10 with a tank squadron...

Yes and the fire service have told her she can’t do it because it’s a fire hazard. And we thought Boris was bad. I tell you since covid these ppl in power it’s gone to their heads. My grandkids have never had so many flu bugs or sickness with this wear your coats in class world going crazy

Elegran

Lucca

I was not referring to you Callistemon. And I would not and did not report anyway.
There were however personal comments about being thrilled that the poster in question was getting riled.

I am glad I was not alone.

If I had seen any poster being thrilled that another was getting riled I would certainly have reported it. Winding someone up and causing them to"lose the heid" is the intention of trolls. If it was said as a provocative deliberately personal dig, then it definitely deserved reporting.

You must have missed them, then, Elegran. Have look at Chewbacca on page 2, wetting herself with laughter because Alegrias was getting upset.

I kept off this thread because it was obvious where it was going when posters very determinedly ignored clarification of the OP (which was, in fact, a LIE). If Alegrias had thought more carefully she would have kept off it too because trying to stop the pack in full cry is impossible.

Gransnet has over 50 forums. Plenty of opportunity to have a laugh and a giggle and bond over fake news without having to trivialise Politics threads...

FarNorth Sun 06-Feb-22 11:08:18

Are classroom doors not also fire doors?

A good point.
Even if not, more space under them would mean less ability to hinder fire. Still, I suppose covid is a more immediate danger.

I wonder how much is intended to be chopped off the doors.
I was imagining about a third but maybe it's not so much as that?

Marydoll Sun 06-Feb-22 10:54:24

I'm certainly not saying it's your fault, Callistemon. It's the general mocking tone of some posters, which does not sit well with me.

Callistemon21 Sun 06-Feb-22 10:52:11

Lucca

*Ah well, we must remember not to criticise the SNP and Nicola Sturgeon no matter which other politicians get it up them as Corporal Jones would say*.

Once again it’s not the SNP criticism! It’s the delight in winding up Alegrias..

Oh for f***s sake.

I was not winding up Alegrias and she flounced (if she did) after my post about the thread being a joy.
So it must be my fault.

No-one was winding Alegrias up, she got herself in a tizzy right from the start when posters laughed at the daft proposals by the sacrosanct SNP and Sturgeon.

Anyway, I must go, I have another 47,365 pairs of socks to knit.

???????????????????????????
