Who's paying the tax payer that's where they get their money from. #Abolishthemonarchy is trending on Twitter

I understood it is for her own charity Urmstongran, so we should be able to see what this contribution will add to the work I assume. Good for her if she can make a difference.

Ah. Thank you for the clarification Casdon I didn’t realise that.
Yes, let’s hope she chooses to do some really good stuff with an awful lot of money.

No I don’t think it is, it is more likely that the Royals want this moved on and finished because of the Queen..

Prince Andrew has reached a settlement, so no trial. The Duke of York has agreed to make a ‘substantial donation’ to aMs Giuffre’s charity in support of victims rights and accepted that Giuffre ‘suffered as an established victim of abuse. He commended Giuffre’s bravery. He regretted his association with Jeffrey Epstein.

It sounds like the right kind of conclusion to this dreadful episode in the life of V Giuffre as well as Andrew and his loved ones. I’m much more concerned for her welfare than his. I feel for his daughters, her majesty and his extended family

To be honest I think they’ll believe what ever he tells them .. It

Be easier that way. Their lives are so far removed from reality they can afford to do that and move on. For now.

Probably granniesunite, he is , or was, the queens favourite after alL and always full of his own self importance.
I wonder what his ex wife and daughters think about it. They must all be mortified especially the Queen. I do feel fir her.

Granniesunite Tue 15-Feb-22 19:22:07

In public silver linings but I suspect behind the scenes he’ll still by HRH.

Settling out of court is an admission that fighting through court is going to cost more than settling, a great many cases of all sorts are settled this way.
Andrew paid the price for choosing the wrong friends, he is a fool, not recognizing what was happening.

silverlining48 Tue 15-Feb-22 19:19:24

It will be Andrew paying the settlement, not Virginia, so he sort of loses, yes? and will no longer have any part in royal duties.

Freya5 Tue 15-Feb-22 19:14:03

The term guilt isn’t used in civil cases. A settlement is not an admission of guilt, rather that two sides cannot come to an agreement and that neither wins or loses. The cost of a court case would be much higher than settling outside. Then again public opinion will see it differently .

I think we may know how genuine her motivation to make the civil claim was in a year or two, because if she invests the money she has received from this case into supporting raising the profile of sex trafficking as a serious crime she will be doing a lot of good rather than profiting personally.

I read the settlement figure is going to a charity of her choice?

I agree granniesunite. Don't think she has run anywhere. Why should she and why are so many women other women's harshest critics. None of us has a clue about what has gone on behind closed doors.

Yes. We really are the harshest of critics to other woman or some of us are …….Why is that I wonder….

He was known as randy Andy among those in the know so yes the RF will be damaged, no doubt they are furious.

so, she said it wasn't about money.........then ran off with the money!

Not quite. She’s given the money to charity. She wanted justice is all. Not money.

There has been no harm to the reputation of his family

Oh, I think it's done immeasurable damage to the Royal Family. The repercussions from this could be immense.

Sorry Annie but it has . Not just Andrew and his sleeze but all that has gone on before.

People nowadays just don’t accept what they are told by the palace they do their own research and reach their own conclusions. They’re not blinded anymore by loyalty

Admission of guilt for who? They've both agreed an out of court settlement.

Good point. Her advisers must have advised her to go for an out of court settlement as would PA’s advisers. The decision of who is the more guilty will as usual, be made by the public.
Time to move on, as Bridgeit says.

Yammy Tue 15-Feb-22 18:40:58

Settling out of court must satisfy both parties or either would have held out for trial by jury.
We will never know who it helps the most but at least he has taken the pressure off the Royal family.

Granniesunite Tue 15-Feb-22 18:36:34

This comment is so sad.

I doubt if he will starve because I am sure he will inherit a few million when the queen dies.
