I think the problem is that some can't see the difference between having a private life where you decide exactly when and where you will make things public, and having a life where you are organised and supervised by other people who decide what will be public and you are just expected to go along with things.

The Police are not hired by Football clubs. The Police decide if their presence is needed, attend and charge the Club for their attendance.

As I said before Harry is not POTUS or close to being any kind of State visitor.

The police also cover any state visit, even that of Chinese officials (who wanted to bring their own but were denied permission - that's only for POTUS).

The British police force is not a commercial organisation, up for hire by individuals of any description. If Harry were able to hire police protection from them, he would set a precedent which could be followed by every dodgy billionaire or banana republic dictator who wished to visit this country and make a big entrance, with the same armed police protection as the queen.

Ah but the police are available to hire and are hired by football clubs to police matches. The problem is the clubs don't actually cover the full cost which is considerably higher. The police are available to hire just not to certain people.

Elegran that’s a very good point, but Harry has been living in a land where court cases seem to be a way of life - when in doubt, go to court, especially if you have the money and want the publicity.

Why not? Particularly if the person you are speaking about valued frankness and speaking your mind.

Because it’s gossip and in this case it’s against someone with no redress and, even worse, it’s your own family and, worse still, it’s for money.

It's a purely objective question. If someone behaves badly do you forget their bad behaviour because they are dead? Is there some sort of limit to that? Or is any behaviour just acceptable because the person is dead?
Personally I'd hate to think anyone put me on a pedestal and didn't speak about my faults after I died. I'd rather be remembered as a curmudgeonly old so and so than be spoken of as if I was some sort of saint.

I think you'll find that this particular Nanny was constantly at odds with HM over Charles diet to the despair of the royal kitchen. When Nanny over rode a particular request, HM had finally had enough and, unsurprisingly sacked her. Diana also sacked William and Harrys Nanny, Barbara Barnes, apparently because the children allegedly were fonder of Nanny, than they were of their mother! Eldest children often do have a tougher time in upper class, even middle class homes particularly years ago, as Winston Churchill knew only too well. Younger children tended to fare much better. I really don't think P.C is damaged, after all the Queen mother made no secret of the fact that he was her favorite grandchild so plenty of affection there.

By making such a fuss, Harry is highlighting his lack of security ( as he sees it) and that of other members of the RF.

Nothing to do with any photos but Charles authorised biography where he talks about the separations and how his parents made him feel inadequate. Why would he not feel safe attending the memorial service? Presumably he would be in the company of his mother, father and brother who would all have very tight security. I agree that he’s using it as a bargaining chip and leaking the story. How low can he get?

Maybe that's how they want to play it out in public, probably ideal for Meghan, as sorting things out privately is not how they like to do it. It's all in bad taste.

If they'd gone, kept a low profile and just popped back from time to time (Covid permitting) without making such a song and dance about everything, they wouldn't be constantly attracting the media attention which he professes to despise.
