That is, of course, is his choice. But you’re right Deeda the memorial service shouldn’t be used as a bargaining chip. He either wants to attend, or he doesn’t. His choice.

Surely this should all be a private discussion between him and his family.

He must be leaking all this to the press to add to the 'Poor me, how unkind everyone is' image he and his wife try to portray.

He could stay at Frogmore cottage, which I understand he has re- leased, and which is at present occupied by Eugenie and her husband. I do hope they are not plotting along with Harry.
Harry, no longer a working royal, should begin to understand what pressures the general public are under from terrorist threats, not least members past and present of the Armed Forces, with no special protection afforded. Lee Rigby for instance.

I think he did have a defined and active role in the Charities which he initiated, Sentabele and the Invictus Games, as well as his support for wildlife in Africa.

That and the proposed role within the Commonwealth would have given him purpose and a real sense of achievement. His name remembered for all the right reasons.

Josieann, I’m confused about that too. It’s been reported that he wants to come over for his grandfather’s memorial service. If true, I can’t see why he couldn’t stay with his father. Having said that, obviously we don’t know what kind of terms they’re on at the moment, but I do understand that he’d want to be at the service for his grandfather.
The jubilee is going to be celebrated much later, in June I believe, and so it would be a long wait from the memorial service until the jubilee. We don’t know if the family would want them to be present for that, but I wouldn’t blame them if they would prefer them to stay away at that time. Also Harry has reportedly said he wants to introduce his new baby to the family and for them to see Archie again. Who knows? But as others have said, it would be straightforward enough to do that at any time, and to stay under the radar.

Oh come on surely no one believes the army would have given Harry careers advice. His future was predicted- shaking hands and giving speeches.

You can’t apply for Legal Aid just because you weren’t awarded costs. It can be awarded retrospectively but only if work had to be done immediately to prevent injustice and an application was made as soon possible after that.

I don't really understand the point you're making Pamiel. If the disabled benefit claimants had been granted legal aid there would be no costs to award them would there?

*Pamiel*, the Home Office has to be represented in court. The Attorney General, already paid by the taxpayer, may do this without recourse to external counsel but I very much doubt that all the work would be done in house, so any external advice is paid for by the taxpayer. The taxpayer will also pay Harry’s costs if he wins. Either way, IMO this will cost the taxpayer.

Interesting. I remember two disabled benefit claimants being granted a judicial review some years ago but weren’t awarded costs. They had to apply for legal aid to cover them. I assumed that this case would work in a similar way.

It still doesn’t make him entitled to hire the met police for security - no matter how much money he has, they’re not for hire and that’s as it should be. And round the clock security is only provided to the Queen and the line of succession, not the entire royal family.

greenlady, even if he did offer to pay that amounts to hiring the police, which cannot be done. They are not available for hire by any private person. This has been said many times on this and other threads.
