The Queen has COVID

The current guidelines are that you don't have to self isolate if you have been in contact with someone positive but have been vaccinated and are testing negative yourself.

Didn’t she meet two dignitaries after it was confirmed Charles and Camilla had it when she had been in contact with them? I was slightly surprised when I read that.

Windsor Castle always attracts tourists. Doubt whether any one expects to see her majesty in view of the news.

Regarding the source of her infection, the virus has apparently breached the walls of Windsor Castle and several staff have contracted it. So it could be Charles or one of her staff. I don't suppose anyone knows for sure where they caught it.

Incredibly, my daughter works for the NHS and has been at work all through the pandemic, and her daughter has been at primary school the whole time too. Neither of them have caught it in two years! Must be a record.

She will be given the anti viral drugs, just like Trump was given so her prognosis is good I would have thought.

I wish her a speedy recovery as I do anyone who has had or got Covid. Now is not the time to be snitty if we ever should be about people who are unwell.

What a year this lady has had - more than enough for someone thirty or forty years younger, and yet, on she goes, uncomplaining, smiling, refusing to be cowed. I also thought she looked thinner looking at the photo in my newspaper article . I wish her well; she has been Queen for the whole of my life almost, and an enduring example of everything that is good and positive in human nature.

I think that she should still remain our monarch, but carry out as little work / duties as possible.

Whatever you think of the monarchy (and I flip flop about), HM has worked tremendously hard and deserves to put her ‘Annello & Davide’s’ up

I've met Her Majesty Queen several times .

She is totally amazing in every way - regal ,cool ,calm ,collected ,controlled and yet demonstrates extraordinary warmth and compassion .

I do think that she could enjoy some degree of retirement at her age and just enjoy her dogs and horses .

Some members of her family must be a tremendous strain on her .
They aren't in the same class .
And she is alone without Prince Philip .
I'm praying for her to have a speedy recovery .

So sorry for the Queen, this as well as everything else she has to cope with.I am sure she will overcome this, she is a very healthy person and has had her jabs.
They say the staff at Windsor may have spread it once the restrictions had been lifted, who knows, we shall all think of the Queen and pray for a speedy recovery.

I can imagine she will be thinking she can now look the public in the eye - just like her mother who, after the palace was bombed during the war said "now I can look the East End in the face"

Perhaps reporting that the Queen is performing light duties has more to do with showing the public that she is not seriously ill, rather than ‘encouraging’ people to go to work? Meant to be reassuring? Just a thought! (Perhaps I’m being naive!)

She will have been given the antiviral medication as soon as she tested positive.

I hope she will be ok but I am sure she will be in the best of hand.

Rosie1959 I hope I get your version if I get it. DD was really ill with it. son-in-law able to carry on working and GC seemed unaffected. At least HM will be well looked after.

I am nearly 30 years younger than the Queen and I am just recovering from Covid. I could barely speak, totally exhausted and wiped out . I could just about manage to read a book before falling asleep. She must be super human if she can manage ‘ light duties’.

Covid seems to have so many types of reaction to contracting the virus. I had it in January and was absolutely fine and used the isolation time to spring clean my house. My husband and daughter both had cold like symptoms but carried on working normally from home and well my 4 year old granddaughter was positively bouncing.

Sincere good wishes to Her Majesty and I hope she gets well soon. I remember the days long ago when somebody on the radio used to say in hushed tones "Her Majesty the Queen (or whichever member of the RF it was) is confined to bed with a slight cold."

I hope it stays a mild dose and she recovers quickly, same as I hope for all those with Covid.
Nicholas Witchell seemed quite annoyed that the palace wasn’t issuing bulletins, but I think for some folk that would just encourage the flow of snide comments as well as get well wishes

No surprise when you consider her majesty unlike the rest of us (who can isolate if we chose to do so ) is hardly on her own with the amount of persons, mainly staff, that must come and go on a daily basis.
