I remember the case of Maria Colwell who was killed by her stepfather back in 1973 - it would never happen again was the refrain from the powers be: I wonder how many times it has happened since then and how times those immortal words have been uttered?

M0nica

What frustrates me as that as some spokesperson mouths those empty words 'Lessons have been learned' No journalist present asks them 'What lessons have been learned and what are you doing differently as a result?'

Absolutely agree MOnica
Poor little boy suffered so much and failed by everyone.

If the lesson learned was that more social workers will be hired so they had manageable caseloads, that would make sense to me. All we ever hear is that the system is falling apart from lack of funds and social workers leaving in droves like the nurses and teachers.
Are Boris and Rishi learning anything at all? Unlikely.

Perhaps it's time the death sentence was brought back for certain crimes. This poor little boy aged just 5 suffered 56 catastrophic injuries carried out by his mother, step father and a 14 year old then dumped into the river like bag of trash. Something needs to be done and it's nothing to do with lack of resources the people who carry out these horrific crimes are evil and they deserve a punishment to match the crime not a few years in prison.

Lessons will be learned…
But they never are, are they!
If they were, bad things would have stopped happening years ago.

Yet another precious child murdered at the hands of those that should have protected him what must be done to save these little lives
If I hear the sentence lessons must be learned I will scream
I hope they all get prison with the key thrown away
This poor little soul had so many dreadful injuries to his whole body and was then dumped in a river
It makes me cry to think of the suffering this poor little body took
