Seems like the measly sanctions haven’t frightened Putin, surprise surprise. What will be our circus of a government here’s response? We need to build bridges with the EU and have a combined response with the US.That would mean a different government here, I fear, as this lot have burnt too many bridges. Can’t wait to see Liz Truss in her fur hat issuing threats.

Sad but true. Just done a bit of cross referencing.
Thanks Tamaraya

More crap.

Unless you are willing to give sources for this 5th column nonsense, then I think these posts should be taken down.

Oldwoman70 Sat 26-Feb-22 07:33:34

I did an internet search regarding these "bioweapon labs" - it was a rumour started on Twitter (such a reliable source!) which has since been proved to be false - so please stop spreading Russia's lies

I reported that post. So much dodgy misinformation around. Wonder who could be behind it?
I'm behind Ukraine.
????????????

Thank you.

We had this sort of nonsense before the referendum, - all sorts of false information was posted.

At the time I don’t think people (well me) understood exactly what was going on.

I do think that we should waive the visa system for Ukraine mothers and their children whose husbands are left to fight. Knowing your family is safe and cared for would mean a lot to the men.

In the past 48 hours the following has happened.
Russian airstrikes on Ukraine
Israeli Airstrikes on Damascus
Saudi Airstrikes on Yemen
US Airstrikes on Somalia

ALL should be equally in the news AND roundly Condemned BUT only a quarter of these are!!!

They are condemned by many of us, and I totally agree with the sentiment behind your post.

But you know the answer as well as me why these are not being discussed.

The battle for Kyiv.
Ukrainian soldiers yesterday. So heroic. My heart goes out to all Ukrainians.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 26-Feb-22 08:53:16

Listening and reading that many Brits living in Ukraine and married to a Ukrainian spouse are unable to travel to U.K. because their Ukrainian spouse does not have a visa and won’t be allowed in. They would then become refugees.

Patel get your act together!!

Urmstongran Sat 26-Feb-22 09:00:48

Volodymyr Zelensky was asked to evacuate at the behest of the US government, but turned down their offer, telling America: “"The fight is here; I need ammunition, not a ride".

Iam64 Sat 26-Feb-22 09:05:36

Volodmyr Zelensky is a very interesting character. I’d somehow forgotten he once played the President of Ukraine in a tv drama. What we need now is Michael Sheen in Jed Bartlett persona in the White House.
I hope no one is offended by a light hearted wishful post in these dark and grim days

Whitewavemark2 Sat 26-Feb-22 09:08:51

Apparently Putin is planning a type of war criminals trial along the lines of post WW2.

My goodness I don’t agree with labelling enemies but I do wonder about his stability.

Urmstongran Sat 26-Feb-22 09:09:02

Natali Sevriukova, next to the remains of her home following a rocket attack.

I won’t post any more photos. Images convey powerful messages though.

Ro60 Sat 26-Feb-22 09:11:33

Apologies if I've been taken in by fake news just shows how easy it is. Not so sure about bioweapons - they could be anywhere but I was focusing on the base?

Iam64 Sat 26-Feb-22 09:16:31

Whitewave, I don’t think we can doubt Putin is dissembling. He’s unstable. It feels so reminiscent of 1938. I keep hoping his generals will take him on but I fear many will share his desire to recreate the ussr. I read this morning he’s threatening Finland and Sweden if they join NATO.

FannyCornforth Sat 26-Feb-22 09:20:07

He needs to be taken out.
Put a bounty on his head

Funny how people feel it necessary to post awful images of what is happening in the Ukraine, when we all know what is going on. Must be a "look at me, how clever I am, I have found this"!

Iam64 Sat 26-Feb-22 09:33:10

laverdermine -Do we really need another outbreak of unnecessarily nasty personal attacks?

Urmstongran - we rarely agree on politics. Maybe it’s the northern girl thing but please, don’t get that hair shirt out again. I’m sure we are all old and wise enough to scroll past an image if it upsets us.

volver Sat 26-Feb-22 09:40:15

We need people to take responsibility for what they post and realise that this is not a game.

Nobody's being personal - I just started a thread on it.

Urmstongran Sat 26-Feb-22 09:40:18

Thanks Iam64. Appreciate your comment.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 26-Feb-22 09:46:11

Urmstongran no problem with that image.
War is dirty, everyone should be aware of what is going on.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 26-Feb-22 09:47:38

I fervently hope that the USA, in the event of the fall of Ukraine will send in covert troops to get Zelensky out to safely and the hands of Putin.

Be wonderful if it’s never necessary though.

maddyone Sat 26-Feb-22 09:48:00

Tamayra

There’s much more to this than we realise
Ukraine is a seat of heavy corruption
Puts n is taking out Bioweapon bases there. Dig deeper my friends

WHAT?
I’m afraid I wouldn’t believe that until I see it on some reputable news source. Where did you hear that?
Of course they’ll be all sorts of rumours whilst this tragic situation is unfolding.

Putin doesn't care twopence about sanctions however severe and anyone who thinks differently is totally naive. He wants to stop Ukraine joining NATO and will stop at nothing to achieve this, doing exactly what Hitler did 83 years ago. He is already threatening Poland and no doubt will eventually turn his attention to Latvia etc, all NATO countries. Then only way to realistically stop him is to fight him, a sobering thought indeed, too awful to contemplate, but something we may eventually have to face. Calling people names is unhelpful and childish though I have to confess to an enormous sense of relief at not having a government run by Mr Corbyn.

It never ceases to amaze me how people always blame Corbyn for our dishonest, self serving Tory PM.

maddyone Sat 26-Feb-22 09:49:09

Zelensky has been an absolute hero, refusing to abandon his people. I fear for him greatly.
