I will.

It’s reported this morning, so far Britain has given 50 visas to Ukrainian refugees. One million have arrived in Poland.
The US and other countries sanctioned 100 Russian business people - in the UK, it’s 15.
I’m very cross and despair of our government.

Is that right whitewave? Mind you, I am sure Australia would be the same so we can’t talk.

?

I'm not surprised karmalady

Where there's a crisis there's a scammer or someone who will take advantage in some way.

Those offering shelter really should be vetted.

Over one million people have arrived in Poland

Iam64 Sun 06-Mar-22 20:46:10

The bbc tv news is covering the children being moved from hospital in Ukraine to Poland so their life saving cancer treatment can continue

The refugees will be much safer going to relatives. I have copied and pasted

German police confirm: Traffickers are targeting Ukranian women and children arriving in Germany with dubious promises of shelter and employment. There isn't a crisis that they won't exploit. Paid access to women's bodies is in high demand in Germany, this is the logical result.

Most British people are far kinder and more generous than Pritti Patel believes us to be.

Callistemon21 Sun 06-Mar-22 16:47:20

Yes, they have.

I think ordinary people here are ready and waiting to help. The donations so far have been so outstandingly generous.
Children nearby have raised hundreds of pounds for the refugees by cleaning cars.
DIL said she and others have sorted out a pile of almost new children's clothes and toys which are apparently not needed yet but will be if when the refugees arrive here.

Polish

Whitewavemark2 Sun 06-Mar-22 16:30:19

Prams being left at a station in Poland for the refugees.

My goodness the polish have a lot to be proud of.

Callistemon21 Sun 06-Mar-22 16:16:12

I think someone has started a thread about that.

Darmanin said "We have good relations with her (Patel). I am sure she is a decent person. I am sure she will solve this problem".
If that doesn't shame her, what will?

Whitewavemark2 Sun 06-Mar-22 16:13:52

In a letter to Priti Patel, French interior minister Gerald Darmanin says that 150 Ukrainian refugees have been turned back at Calais by Border Force officials, accusing the Home Secretary of a "lack of humanity" and a"completely unsuitable" response.

Callistemon21 Sun 06-Mar-22 16:11:30

I just don't understand her as her parents were refugees.
We've got a good friend who came over from Uganda when he was 13 and he has made an enormous contribution to this country and still does now he is retired, doing voluntary work.

Plus a couple of other friends too, who were Ugandan refugees as teenagers and they, too, have contributed enormously to the UK; one opened a business when he was older, employing several other people.

Brilliant Callistemon21

I always think Patel would make a good Mrs Coulter.

Stealing children's souls, that kind of thing.

Pritti Patel is a disgrace

Whitewavemark2 Sun 06-Mar-22 11:37:24

Our shame

Luckygirl3 Sat 05-Mar-22 22:43:27

I have 2 spare bedrooms - I live alone. Those bedrooms could be sued by refugees if they were allowed in.

Callistemon21 Sat 05-Mar-22 21:39:28

He won but now we have to pour it down the sink and get rid of the bottle!

Why would people send old, worn out clothes to refugees? What makes them think dispossessed people would be grateful for any old rubbish? They have been through enough already.

Shandy57 Sat 05-Mar-22 21:14:21

What a shame Callistemon21. I remember buying £10 worth of raffle tickets and winning nothing, at least your husband won! My children used to love the school fair tombola and won all sorts of rubbish.

Argh just seen your post Callistemon21 - beef and ale stew? smile

I thought of it but it has a lot of sediment in the bottle!
Yuk!
Someone I know won a large amount of wine and other alcohol in a a prize. He doesn't drink and some was way past drinkable!

Shandy57 Sat 05-Mar-22 19:07:26

I've just realised what you mean karmalady - they are probably just ordinary people trying to get money to help them escape. I would prefer to give money to someone advertising a room in their house though, and there were only hotel rooms in Kherson. Instead I'm buying a jumper from the Ukraine on ebay, I'll tell her to keep it smile
