I thought Switzerland was a neutral country, not an impartial country, that is something else entirely

Sometimes there is no neutral position. You have to come out, in actions, if not words on one side or another. This is the situation Switzerland is now in.

I think the Swiss president made the country's position quite clear when, on imposing sanctions, he said “Never since the second world war has the rights of one country been so violated by another. You cannot stand aside. To play into the hands of an aggressor is not neutral.”

My opinion is that this will be quite a short-lived thread.

I have a few friends in Switzerland. One of them recently commented on social media that Switzerland should not be pulling Russian products from supermarket shelves because Switzerland should be impartial.

Should it be totally impartial? Is this morally wrong in the face of what could amount to a genocide? This country has faced criticism in the past for allowing Nazi war criminals to hide money there and for not releasing Jewish money.

Opinions?
