Why is Patel still in post?

GB is now two different entities. On the one hand we have the majority of the population who are kind and generous and on the other we have the govt and it's reducing number of supporters. Sadly I think that the rest of the world sees the latter view.

I saw a clip of the message from President Zelensky and PP looked as though she was smirking. Maybe she was trying to look sympathetic but it didn't work, at least not for me.

Of all the things I find objectionable about Priti Patel her speaking voice is quite low on the list.

She won't go because she is implementing what Boris knows is an unpopular and divisive immigration policy and overseeing a Bill most wouldn't want to put their name to. BJ hopes that her being a woman, Indian and the child of immigrants will make the Bill more acceptable.

This is rather flippant, but the shoes she wears when out and about, obviously for comfort as they are quite flat, but they make her look very short.

I am not suggesting she wears stilettos, but the trainer types she favours look odd somehow.

Apologies, I realise this is a pointless observation, but my eyes are always drawn to her shoes.

I don’t know anyone who was praising her when she was blocking Syrian refugees. I’m ashamed that we don’t do more for refugees.

I agree with you. You would expect more from someone who has experienced an immigrant background.

I wrote to my MP (conservative) yesterday complaining about the way we are treating refugees from Ukraine and was unsurprised to hear Yvette Cooper using exactly the same words on radio 4 this morning ie incompetent, shambolic inhuman, appalling. PP is truly dreadful, no doubt she will eventually lose her job and become a peer, just like Gavin Williamson.

The whole idea of talking the talk but not walking the walk....its what they all do.

There seems to be a belief in the front bench that you don't actually have to do anything, just make a good speech about it. Boast about "world class" this and "world leading that" and how Boris is showing those Ruskies what's what, and people will believe you. Don't worry about delivering, you can always tell lies and blame somebody else afterwards.

God only knows.

Johnson will never be advised by anyone. He will be fully aware of her incompetence and his own but both are too proud and full of their own importance to take heed. They are both on the same wavelength here.

I found myself saying yesterday evening (but I gave myself a good talking to afterwards) that I’d developed a bit more respect for her. She is one of the few in the government who has at least the virtue of consistency. The same politicians who are now calling her hopeless because she is blocking Ukrainian refugees while Russia flattens their cities were praising her to high heavens when she was blocking Syrian refugees while Russia was flattening their cities.

She is Boris's mate, that's why. We have had some truly dreadful Home Secretaries and Patel is up there with the worst of them. She has a lot of waffle about what she is going to do but never gets as far as putting anything much into practice.
