Why is Patel still in post?

I will not resort to name calling but I do think it’s time for a cabinet reshuffle.

Another day of misleading the House.
I listened to Yvette Cooper this p.m. asking questions which Patel should have been there to answer. No wonder she was absent,. Yvette Cooper really showed her up.Oh for a proper Home Secretary who can cope and who gives you confidence. Patel MUST go and quickly.

I saw a clip of the message from President Zelensky and PP looked as though she was smirking. Maybe she was trying to look sympathetic but it didn't work, at least not for me.

I don’t like her much, but she wasn’t smirking. That’s just how she looks.

She always looks as if she is smirking or looking down her nose at people as if they are a nasty smell. I am sure she is delightful to work for.?

I think she is the sort of woman that ex public school chaps like. She reminds them of the naughty dreams they used to have about Matron. She reminds me of a couple of women I've worked for and they were both total nightmares (and also no good at their jobs)

She’s incompetent and dishonest. Johnson appoints incompetents - Ben Wallace seems to be an exception.

Personally I think Boris is scared of her so he can’t get rid of her. Many men are frightened of a certain type of woman and I suspect he’s one of them. I find her dreadful but can’t see her going anywhere sadly.

She is trying to follow UKIP’s immigration policy i,e. none, but failing miserably . The government’s current Ukraine refugee response is an international embarrassment.

She’s a proven bully. Plenty of name calling of the other proven bully Bercow I notice !

She is making a complete embarrassing inhumane mess of the Ukrainian refugee crisis.

I had high hopes for Pritti Patel. All dashed.
She just talks the talk and I’m so disappointed.

She is Boris's mate, that's why. We have had some truly dreadful Home Secretaries and Patel is up there with the worst of them. She has a lot of waffle about what she is going to do but never gets as far as putting anything much into practice.

I found myself saying yesterday evening (but I gave myself a good talking to afterwards) that I’d developed a bit more respect for her. She is one of the few in the government who has at least the virtue of consistency. The same politicians who are now calling her hopeless because she is blocking Ukrainian refugees while Russia flattens their cities were praising her to high heavens when she was blocking Syrian refugees while Russia was flattening their cities.

Of all the things I find objectionable about Priti Patel her speaking voice is quite low on the list.

Johnson will never be advised by anyone. He will be fully aware of her incompetence and his own but both are too proud and full of their own importance to take heed. They are both on the same wavelength here.

God only knows.

The whole idea of talking the talk but not walking the walk....its what they all do.

There seems to be a belief in the front bench that you don't actually have to do anything, just make a good speech about it. Boast about "world class" this and "world leading that" and how Boris is showing those Ruskies what's what, and people will believe you. Don't worry about delivering, you can always tell lies and blame somebody else afterwards.

I wrote to my MP (conservative) yesterday complaining about the way we are treating refugees from Ukraine and was unsurprised to hear Yvette Cooper using exactly the same words on radio 4 this morning ie incompetent, shambolic inhuman, appalling. PP is truly dreadful, no doubt she will eventually lose her job and become a peer, just like Gavin Williamson.

volver, I feel suitably chastised for being superficial in my criticism of Pritti Patel. Just to add, I find her cold hearted, dishonest, disgraceful and disgusting in her approach to ‘defending’ the UK from offering sanctuary to refugees.

I don’t know anyone who was praising her when she was blocking Syrian refugees. I’m ashamed that we don’t do more for refugees.
