The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are campaigning for Britain to work with pharmaceutical companies to waive intellectual property rights on the life-saving jabs in the latest flashpoint between Harry and his home country.

In an open letter published this afternoon, Meghan, Harry and other signatories warned 'the pandemic is not over', and blamed 'self-defeating nationalism, pharmaceutical monopolies and inequality' for the entire world not being vaccinated by now.

They do keep sticking their heads above the parapet don't they?

Jaxjacky Fri 11-Mar-22 20:15:21

You know that ‘ad’ on the BBC, well to quote the lady - booooring.

ayse Fri 11-Mar-22 20:33:33

I’m just waiting to see if they make any pronouncements on the Ukraine. Maybe they’d be better off raising money for the refugees in the USA or taking Pfizer and Modena to task for the cost of their vaccines. They could even criticise our government for their lousy immigration rules and the difficulty of acquiring visas!

In my ignorance I thought they wanted a quiet life but no! They are a pain in the proverbial and I too wish they would keep their opinions to themselves and do something productive for a change.

They have already, ayse, advising heads of state and the global community.
Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex (SIC) and all of us at Archewell stand with the people of Ukraine against this breach of international and humanitarian law and encourage the global community and its leaders to do the same.

Knittingnovice Fri 11-Mar-22 21:03:06

Whilst I understand they want a private life, they use their titles a lot and make comments on so many issues. I thought the agreement was nor to use their titles? The cynical side of me thinks Meghan wants to run for president of USA.

Jaxjacky Fri 11-Mar-22 21:20:11

Shame he can’t be bothered to come over for his grandfather’s memorial service..oh no, I’ve commented, slapped wrist.

Anniebach Fri 11-Mar-22 22:20:47

Did he really want to attend the memorial service, he has an
excuse not to return to the U.K. lack of security! even though not one of his cousins has security.

vegansrock Fri 11-Mar-22 22:25:04

Of course he needs security, he is much more of a a target for random nutters and terrorists of many persuasions than any of his cousins(who?). Any excuse to put the boot in, whatever they say/ do will get hammered on here.

Nobody cares about him, honestly....no one cares, vegansrock - the sooner you and he realise it, the better!

Josieann Fri 11-Mar-22 22:34:00

I think it is very sad that Harry won't be attending his grandfather's memorial service.
Only last weekend there were photos of him at a rodeo event in Fort Worth 1500 miles from his home, not doubt travelling by private jet.
He gets it wrong all the time.

vegansrock Fri 11-Mar-22 22:44:08

Nobody cares about himpantglas - well they care enough to have a thread bitching about him every time the gutter press print a photo or write report about his every move. if no one cared there would be zero comments on here.

Pantglas2 Fri 11-Mar-22 22:47:15

Actually it was more about him caring than you ....!
Wish he’d check out these forums to know where it’s at really!

Zoejory Fri 11-Mar-22 22:48:39

It's not just the Mail that's naming the UK as being culpable.

People's Vaccine seem to be annoyed with us as well.

I do wish H&M would do a spot of research before blaming us for everything.

Zoejory Fri 11-Mar-22 22:50:00

I think people care, vegansrock when untruths are peddled by them. Can't always blame the gutter press when we hear it from the horse's mouth.

trisher Fri 11-Mar-22 22:53:55

Funny would the posters criticising H&M extend the same criticism to all the others who have signed. Like UN Secretary Ban Ki Moon, and the Presidents of numerous countries? It isn't just aimed at Britain, it is aimed at rich countries peoplesvaccine.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Vaccine-Open-Letter-March-2022.pdf

Given that Pfizer and Moderna are USA owned vaccines as far as I know why is the USA not mentioned in the letter? The AstraZenica vaccine has been sold at cost throughout the pandemic. What am I missing?

vegansrock Sat 12-Mar-22 05:40:16

Well if the likes of the Daily Heil didn’t print the stories we wouldn’t know about it and would have nothing to get our proverbials in a twist about.

You're missing the fact that the organisation is campaigning for the lifting of IP rules on all the vaccines, and the US already supports that. Along with 100 other countries.

how naive to think 'news is only in the DM! re Harry
it's in skynews.com ..the express... the independent ect ect.
even townand country.com

news.sky.com/story/prince-harry-will-not-return-to-the-uk-later-this-month-for-prince-philips-memorial-service-

vegansrock Sat 12-Mar-22 06:39:17

yes it’s seen as “news”, and if it wasn’t you wouldn’t be getting enraged about it. H and M maybe the devils incarnate but they aren’t newspaper editors and they don’t force people to buy or read the stuff.

Lucca Sat 12-Mar-22 06:52:50

Josieann

It's a valid point made in the letter though.
I don't think H & M had anything to do with the actual writing of it. Just added their names.

Anybody read this point ? Or is it too distracting from the pleasure of saying again and again how you wish the pair would shut up (you don’t). and how you are not interested……(you are.. )

Will we be meandering on to Diana and her faults too ? How Meghan was just an actress before she stole our Prince ?

Once again, I’m not a Sussex supporter, just an observer of the GN obsessions…

eazybee Sat 12-Mar-22 06:57:11

It was on the ITV news last night.
I would have thought Harry would want to see his Grandmother sooner rather than later.

And this childish attitude blaming the Daily Mail only and always for negative press. A friend who doesn't acknowledge any paper other than the Guardian recently held the Mail responsible for the 'story' that Michelle Obama hugged the Queen.

Josieann Sat 12-Mar-22 07:39:38

Re the signing, I dislike the fact that say Sarah Brown (who is presumably of the same persuasion as her husband), doesn't get to sign, alongside Gordon, yet Meghan does? Why is one wife's shouty voice of more value than another's, who quietly does an enormous amount of good for children in her own right?

Esspee Sat 12-Mar-22 07:55:32

I spent last month on an island where only 20% of the population are vaccinated. Their government was having to destroy huge stocks of out of date vaccines because of the low uptake.
You never read about that.

It’s all well and good to make pronouncements. That’s easy. Now maybe they could do some fund raising round all their very wealthy friends to make a positive difference.
