Offensive bilge from Johnson

At the Tory party conference today, Johnson made a speech in which he equated choosing freedom from Brussels by voting for Brexit with the Ukrainian people fighting to rid their country of Russian oppression.

I also wondered what the poster had seen.

I thought this was going to be something about the battle of the bulge! grin

i thought it was about the Jennifer Arcuri quote today about their sex life, when he "rolled on top of her like a bag of custard"

This thread is not as interesting as the title led me to believe grin but yes, I do find his analogy offensive.

Oldbat1 Sat 19-Mar-22 19:26:35

My god the title nearly turned my stomach but then I realised it was a typo and I laughed out loud. On a serious note what a disgraceful man what a dreadful thing to say. “People” think he is an orator but to me he has verbal diarrhoea! A public speaker he is not. Buffoon! Does he really think before opening his mouth.

Chewbacca Sat 19-Mar-22 19:39:37

Best thread title ever but just the thought of BoJo's bulge makes me heave! Bleurgh!

Devorgilla Sat 19-Mar-22 20:05:34

I read the title and had to resort to strong drink to get the image out of my head.

DaisyAnne Sat 19-Mar-22 20:06:59

I have started another thread for those who want to take this seriously.

Have fun about the typo. However, please consider what comparing "Brexit Battles" to those losing their lives in Ukraine will mean to many people.

poshpaws Sat 19-Mar-22 20:46:42

Any bulge of Johnson's would be offensive!

But seriously, you cannot expect this entitled, narcissistic, amoral waste of oxygen to say anything worthy of believing, nor should you expect him to think or talk sensibly, nor to fact check before he opens his mouth and puts his foot in it.

(If it hadn't been for his untrue statement as Foreign Secretary, that Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe was teaching journalists rather than simply taking her daughter on a visit to her parents, then Nazanin's imprisonment would never have occurred.)

Basically Johnson is a dangerous fool. A devious, tricky, expensively educated one, but a fool nonetheless.

p.s. this photo came to mind when I read your title - I can't think what else Carrie can be gazing so closely at!! (wish we had a "puke" emoji!)

Hetty58 Sat 19-Mar-22 20:55:52

'offensive bilge' from Boris - what else should we expect?

Hetty58 Sat 19-Mar-22 20:59:29

Hetty58 and MawtheMerrier thank you both! How do you get that emoji on here? I thought we were restricted to the ones listed on this page.

grannyactivist Sat 19-Mar-22 21:42:46

poshpaws you can use the emojis on your iPad or phone.

Hetty58 Sat 19-Mar-22 21:45:26

You can find them on Google - then copy and paste!

Please, no, I've just had lunch!

Seriously though, many people are asking what was he thinking. That he was thinking anything implies that he has a brain, which I seriously doubt.

Blossoming Sun 20-Mar-22 12:20:47

I suppose we should be grateful he didn’t try another Peppa Pig analogy.

DaisyAnne Wed 30-Mar-22 10:01:05

Thought I ought continue this rather than start a new thread - after all Johnson is not going to stop being offensive, is he.

Seems Johnson used the slaughter in Ukraine as comic material for his speech at the dinner.

The bereaved Covid families booed ministers at Boris Johnson’s dinner as Partygate fines issued.

Labour MP Chris Bryant, who chairs parliament’s committee on standards, said: “The more I think about the PM hosting a Westminster party for MPs on the anniversary of the Covid memorial and in the face of the 20 partygate fines for breaking the law at No 10, the more I realise the Tories are laughing at us all. They must think we’re stupid.” [Huffpost]

MayBee70 Wed 30-Mar-22 13:10:35

And today the PM accused the Labour Party of not caring about literacy in this country. This from a government that has consistently cut school budgets. As for last nights party. That is a 5 star hotel….I dread to think how much it cost. And what a time to have a party.

snowberryZ Wed 30-Mar-22 13:26:41

I also read buldge!
Johnson and Buldge in the same sentence is enough to make me throw up my cornflakes envy

GillT57 Wed 30-Mar-22 13:37:22

The party was also the same evening as the Memorial service for the Duke of Edinburgh, and we all know how they partied the night before the funeral. This is probably irrelevant, but didn't Johnson look awful yesterday; badly fitting suit, creased shirt, tie hanging out the bottom of his jacket.

He looked as dishevelled as usual. Even Trump, for all of his faults, managed to wear well fitting suits and looked smart. I think Johnson falls into the trap of being a fat person wearing tight clothes when you should wear clothes slightly larger. I though it was disrespectful the way that he looked (and always looks).

GillT57 Wed 30-Mar-22 14:00:21

Yes, I too think he was disrespectful by being so scruffy. There are plenty of overweight men in the HoC and the majority manage to wear a suit that fits them, and polish their shoes. His speech this morning, being all welcoming and understanding to the MP for Bridgend, Jamie Walls who had shared a heartbreaking story of his trans battle and a dreadful rape, contrasts vividly with what he said a the beginning of the dinner '

Good evening ladies and gentlemen, or as Keir Starmer would put it, people who are assigned female or male at birth

Unbelievably crass, even for this oaf
