Keir Starmer is honest. But if it has to be a Tory probably J Hunt though he lacks charisma. None of the Cabinet and especially not Dorries. Nor Tugendhat - he is too hot headed to my mind.

Is there not something fundamentally wrong with a system that allows a few hundred Tory MPs, elected by an undemocratic FPTP voting system to chose our PM?

Surely the party leader was chosen by the members 71% of whom are male and 56% aged over 55. If I remember rightly at the time of the last leadership contest the membership was around 164,000.

Thus, Johnson as leader at the last GE automatically becomes PM and stays until he either loses an election or is removed from his job by the MPs

I’d forgotten about the Johnson government getting rid of the admirable Dominic Grieve as well….
