Who next for PM?

Thank you westendgirl although most of that was Kettle's words not mine. Being generous, I think that timing: Easter and the Parliamentary recess may have something to do with the silence apart from one of two people who would have been wiser to remain silent. The House returns on 19 April by which time we may know if the police intend to add to the fines already issued. Next week will be interesting.

makes so much sense.I do agree that sitting M.Ps should stand up and be counted. I wish that more of them had the necessary moral fibre and think their support should be for their constituents rather than for the corrupt group in power.

Let’s face it nobody can get away with lying better than Johnson, tried and tested, very reliable.

Alas Johnson has not only surrounded himself with yes men in his cabinet but the party lost many decent Conservative MP’s who had no intention of serving in his government, a Prime example being Rory Stewart. Ken Clarke was retiring anyway but, had he not been I don’t think he would have stayed on. I know for a fact that Anna Soubry wouldn’t have served under him. She told me what she thought of him long before he was leader.

Why does it have to be someone from the cabinet.?
There are back benchers who have experience surely ?.I understood that the cabinet had been chosen to make Johnson look competent by their inefficiency.
I think we need a fresh start, get away from the corrupt , inept
mob we have now.

It says something about the Tory party when they are struggling to come up with a half decent alternative to Johnson.

Nadim Zahawi has always struck me as being someone who approaches being decent, he handled the vaccination programme well and he seems to be making headway in Education after his disastrous predecessor.

Not JRM, please not Liz Truss I cringe every time she speaks, everyone in the cabinet has baggage now. There s no front runner or even potential runner, the depressing thing is Johnson is likely to remain for the time being and even if an election was called the Tories would still win.

The PM has to be a member of Parliament. Parliament is the House of Commons and the House of Lords. By convention it is a member of the Commons. I seem to recall Lord Home giving up his peerage when he became PM, though. Late 1950s, early 1960s.

I don't think any Tories need to worry about Nadine Dorries being elected as PM, never in a month of Sundays, she's hardly the sharpest tool in the box (and that's being polite!). .
