Is this Boris’s latest attempt to divert us all from dwelling on the fact that he repeatedly lied to parliament?

The Left Are Having Kittens ????

I have just had the racist card played against me again as I agree with the Ukrainian women and children being allowed to come over legally whilst being open in my opinions that illegal immigrants crossing the Channel are not welcome.

This was my response ??

Just in case you have limited understanding then here goes. The women and children leaving Ukraine are fleeing for their lives whilst the men stay behind to fight in the hope their women and children can return one day. The illegal immigrants are 95% young men fleeing France where there is no war and have left their own women and children behind in their original country. They then pay 5k to come over fuelling the traffickers trade. Now have lie down and see if you can understand what 90% of the population can.

Where's the evidence that the figure is 95%?

Whoever Lee Anderson is needs to come up with some evidence too.

One of the real problems will be allegations that deported migrants have been abused and mistreated in Rwanda, the news hounds will be all over that.

Migrants will deliberately cause problems just to get the news attention.

Of all the unpleasant posts, this one stood out for me.
It seems to me inevitable that asylum seekers will be ‘abused and mistreated in Rwanda. Institutions are rife with abuse. Rwanda doesn’t have a good human rights record
Still, why should we worry? We can simply dismiss any complaints as from folks ‘deliberately causing problems just to get the news attention’

Yesterday I spent a lot of time thinking how people who describe themselves as having a Christian faith can support the lies and cruel policies of this government. This Rwanda concept has made me question this even more today.

All faiths from Humanist to Hindu (that's you isn't it Pritti) set great store by the importance of kindness to others from any country, especially those in need.

I have no faith but for anyone interested here's what the Bible says about immigrants. Hard to tally with some opinons on here.

“When a stranger resides with you in your land, you shall not wrong him. The stranger who resides with you shall be to you as one of your citizens; you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt” (Lev. 19:33-34).

I do have a Christian faith Coastpath and like you I cannot understand how Christians in particular can fail to heed the very passage you quote. ?

I’m still recovering from a recent illness that has messed up my brain and my emotions, so it may be that, but today I actually cried reading some of these posts. I’m usually made of sterner stuff, but for me these are not ‘economic migrants’, ‘refugees’ and ‘illegal immigrants’.

They’re the young man from Sri Lanka who wept in my arms as he described seeing his father and brother shot in front of him and at a later date called me, with great pride, to tell me he had been made manager of his local Co-Op store because of his excellent work ethic.

They’re the Afghan boys who call me their English mum and who studied day and night to learn English, then worked two or three crappy jobs at a time to save up and jointly buy their own business - to fulfil their desire to, and I quote them verbatim, “pay English taxes”.

They’re the chap who came to stay with us who was so traumatised by the torture he’d endured and the killings he’d witnessed that he could barely speak.

And the government of my country, and some of the people in my country, would be happy to send these traumatised, psychologically damaged people to a small African state that has a dreadful human rights record - and if they are found to be ‘deserving’ of asylum TO KEEP THEM THERE. How, literally, in the name of God, can a Christian not only condone that, but approve of it?

With love and support each of these single, unaccompanied, males have found a safe harbour in a country they are proud to call home and are now contributors to the success of their adopted country.

Grammaretto Thu 14-Apr-22 21:44:56

Sad to see that bigotry, ignorance and racism are alive and well in this country of my birth
Alive and well in Scotland too, Paddyanne I am sorry to say.at least in my small Borders town.
I can only hope that our DC and DGC generation will be tolerant, generous and humane.
Of course we should not be sending desperate people to Rwanda.

lixy Thu 14-Apr-22 21:46:50

I have been ashamed of my country many times for instances of trampling over others in the past; I seemed to be saying 'sorry' for something or other every holiday.
But now I am ashamed of my country in the present day - from the prorogation of parliament through the lies and deceit and the churlish back-stabbing to this latest off the wall idea, I am so deeply ashamed to be British.

The Rwandans said 'no' to this idea when they were asked about it a year or so ago. I wonder why they changed their minds?

Maundi, Lee Anderson MP is simply lying and ignorant.

What 90% of the country is he suggesting back the course the government is trying to illegally use? In a YouGov survey, taken just hours after Johnson announced his scheme, they found 42% opposed it and only 35% supported it. Have we got another case of "lies, I see no lies"?

The people from Ukraine have a place to go to where it is safe for women and children. There is also still a war being fought there which men and women who can, have stayed to fight. The situations where families send young men do not compare.

Of the people coming by boat from France even Johnson didn't have the gall to lie to the extreme and say 95% are young men. The people coming in this way are not "illegal immigrants".

This man has learned to lie from the best and repeating this fake news. This may be the sort of lying ignorance you want to boast about but it is still lying ignorance.

DaisyAnne Thu 14-Apr-22 21:50:30

and repeating this fake news and you are repeating this fake news.

I will apologise happily if you can show facts to back up what you have posted.

The Lee Anderson MP quoted above is also the Lee Anderson MP who said about Black Lives Matter -

"For the first time in my life I will not be watching my beloved England team whilst they are supporting a political movement whose core principles aim to undermine our very way of life."

Coastpath Thu 14-Apr-22 22:01:18

grannyactivist I'm so sorry to hear you've been unwell. I've not seen you posting on here recently and have thought of you and hoped you were well.

The work you have done and the love you have shown for people when they were at an unimaginable low point is an inspiration. Their successes were yours too. I hope your kindness and generosity of spirit is contagious.

I hope too that you are on the up now and feel stronger by the day.

Casdon Thu 14-Apr-22 22:02:50

Thanks for your post grannyactivist. A lot more humanity from some of the other posters is needed.

Luckygirl3 Thu 14-Apr-22 22:11:19

When I first saw the news of this plan I simply thought it must be a joke - that no sane humane government would ever dream such a thing up. But sadly it seems that it is true.

What sort of a country are we now living in? How can we hold our heads up?

I feel quite despairing about this.

Would there were more who can do what you have done grannyactivist. Now you need the love and care and we all need to move our country to a place where we can stop crying about what is happening.

When my father was a boy, his mother would set another place at the table. She explained that they always did as "sometimes we are visited by angels". (They often fed an extra mouth). You have reminded me very much of the sweet and perceptive person that she was.

The Mirror In Meltdown ?

They talk of fury over our plan to send illegal immigrants to Rwanda.

Let me tell you there is very little fury in my Constituency over this great new scheme.

Let me tell you who is furious.

1. The Labour Party
2. The SNP
3. The Lib Dems
4. Mirror readers & the 2 Guardian readers in Ashfield.
5. A few boring ex footballers.
6. Lefty Lawyers.
7. People Smugglers.
8. The French.

That said I have more fantastic news for the above who disagree with the transfers to Rwanda. Its quite simple, the illegal migrants can stay in France just 22 miles away.

There you go ??

Sweetheart.

I think we can all see what he is. Maudi seems determined to tell us she agrees.

GillT57 Thu 14-Apr-22 22:36:01

Grannyactivist, so sorry to hear you have been unwell, and I hope that you are recovering. You are a person who makes this country a better place and some of the other posters on here should hang their heads in shame for what think and have posted.

LilyoftheValley Thu 14-Apr-22 22:36:36

growstuff I don't think for one minute that every young man who comes the channel route from France is someone who is escaping militant groups at home. Some are - others see an opportunity to come here and deplete our exchequer.

growstuff Thu 14-Apr-22 22:38:36

This is putting on a show for the racists in the UK, timed to coincide with local elections and to distract from everything else.

Indeed and also to take the pressure off Johnson's lawbreaking and Patel's inability to get the Ukraine refugees over here. There really are some wicked people around.

Granmarretto The borders are no indicitive of Scotland its a tory enclave ...clearly seen by the Tory MP and MSPs that are few and far between in the rest of the country.I wouldnt think that bigotry apart from the religious kind is rife here and even that is dying out

I think it’s partly that, but even more a dogwhistle to the basest and/or racist of their supporters, to shore up the Tory vote at the local elections.

And it’s evidently working.
