How did you vote and why today
Is this Boris’s latest attempt to divert us all from dwelling on the fact that he repeatedly lied to parliament?

Denmark is moving illegals to Rwanda, although accepting Ukranians on humanitarian grounds. It's the IN place.

Who or what are "illegals"? What have they done which is illegal?
OK. The people they do not wish to accept are being sent to Rwanda.

So does that make it right?. Johnson himself has questioned the legality of what he’s doing. Shouldn’t the PM, the Home Secretary and the Attorney General know if what they’re doing is legal? And, yet again, an announcement made when parliament isn’t sitting. It’s like a stuck record….

Have you seen over the last 20 years, the people living in squalour in high rise flats, no lifts, water running through the ceilings, private rents are rat and pest infested and how many of the homeless on our streets. Young people unable to get a mortgage, not earning enough and rental costs too high. It is expected we will have 1000 people seeking refuge here every day soon, coming in via unscrupulous provoke smugglers, that's apart from the people from Ukraine. Please if anyone can, tell me where they will go, who will fund this? We can't afford any more rise in income tax etc. Energy prices through the roof, the country is struggling. No one wants to turn away anyone in need but it is impossible to house and feed them. People born and bred here can't manage, they resort to food banks though working. If anyone feels very strongly then house a family, although it may be cramped it's better than turning them away and you will genuinely be able to say, I feel bad about what's happening and this is my contribution. Would love to know how anyone can sort this out please.
Don't vote for the Tories at the next GE
It maybe illegal or immoral but,I am afraid, a vote winner when the May Elections are looming. The Brexiteers will like it and they are Johnson'a main political lifeline.

Wow! So you're claiming that the country of full of people who don't care about the law or morals? Especially Brexiters! How sad!

True up to a point. But I do think that the British people in general are far too decent to allow this to happen. We used to be one of the most tolerant countries in the world. What went wrong?
But true!
Sad to say I agree with Boz about a certain group of people thinking this is the way to do things. Look at this thread.
I just hope that there are enough decent people to overwhelm that vote.
Got to say, the Tories' prospects aren't looking good in Scotland right now.
I checked the results for the first round of the French presidential election in my commune. M Le P came first, followed closely by Melenchon. Only a couple of points between them and Macron was third with over 20 points less. We live in a very rural area with no sign of any immigrants apart from the obvious (Brits, Dutch, Belgians, Americans) so I asked a French friend. His response was they were voting against brown faces, even though there are none.

Is it? Are you sure? Not everybody is like you or (presumably) the people with whom you're in contact.

It happens in the UK too. The people with the least to fear from "brown faces" are the most fearful.

Is it fear? Selfishness? Lack of understanding for how the world is? Maybe we've always been this way but we've never had a government that was as wiling to exploit it as this lot are? I would love to know.
I agree with Boz and MayBe70 . We used to be a tolerant nation but sadly are no longer. Not sure what the answer is, apart from putting something in the drinking water perhaps!
Now that’s an interesting question. What has made people in the UK less tolerant?
That’s assuming that they are.
This is a ploy to open up the cultural rifts which were exposed by Brexit - just in time for the local elections.

I don't know if we are less tolerant as a nation, but what we have now is a government (and party) which has put cultural wars at the top of the agenda, so anything which united us has been forgotten.
Perhaps it would be a good idea to put a slogan on the side of a red bus?
“£350 million a week supporting migrants in the UK. Shall we try something different?”

I think it's a survival instinct. People under pressure put themselves first (understandably) and don't have the emotional energy to care about anybody else, especially "others". They've been told the "others" are getting a better deal than they are. They might care about their "tribe" (ie people like them) but that's about it. So-called liberalism (with a small 'l') is only for those who can afford it - that's been the narrative for years.

Would it be true? Or doesn't that matter i your world?

I am sorry to say that I agree with Boz. I wish it was otherwise, but the mindset that welcomes government backed trafficking of men to Rwanda will happily keep Johnson in power and overlook his illegal shenanigans. He has certainly “ played a blinder” but I don’t want my hard earned tax payer’s money going to Rwanda to save the PM’s skin. Fortunately, I live in a part of the UK where the Conservatives are not revered. Unfortunately, when it comes to general elections, I live in the UK.
