King George V, Kaiser Wilhelm II and Tsar Nicholas II of Russia were all cousins with each other: George and Wilhelm were first cousins, George and Nicholas were also first cousins, Wilhelm and Nicholas were third cousins.

The drama 37 Days which is currently showing on Britbox gives a very clear depiction of the diplomatic discussions that went on between the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand on 28 June 1914 and Britains's declaration of war on 4 August 1914. Another plus about being royal! The world smells of fresh paint too for them, no traffic queues, wardrobes full of beautifully tailored clothes in expensive fabrics and no worries about heating bills. Lovely upsides. I still don’t envy them though, I’d hate for me and my family to be so heavily scrutinised.

We all have dirty washing in our family trees don't we? but most of ours remains buried.

I was on a bus once around Trafalgar Square and we were held up for ages while a police convoy came past and a big black limo type car with HM in it wafted past. The bus passengers moaned and waved in about equal numbers. Also was held up near Harrods when a big black range rover was waved through with motor bike outriders while Kate Middleton that was was ferried past.

It was a horse drawn carriage with a top.
She admitted she didn't see Hm's face. There were police around but not all that many. It was somewhere near Westminster/ St James park. a park

She saw the Queen.

If her glasses were German made, then the young lady would have had perfect vision! I always choose Zeiss lenses for sharpness, the quality is amazing. Perhaps she was right!

The Princess Royal, President, Riding for the Disabled Association, this morning visited the Wellow Group at Kilkenny Stables, Kilkenny Lane, Bath, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset (Mrs Richard Maw).

Her Royal Highness this afternoon opened The Queen’s Royal Hussars Regimental Museum, Trinity Mews, Priory Road, Warwick, (The Duke of Edinburgh was Colonel-in-Chief of The Queen’s Royal Hussars, The Queen’s Own and Royal Irish) and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Warwickshire (Mr Timothy Cox).

The Princess Royal, Patron, Livability, later attended a Reception at Drapers’ Hall, Throgmorton Avenue, London EC2.

It's got me thinking. I've been reading about Ella Slack who is The Queen's stand in. The two are similar in height and stature. Ms Slack she acts as a body double of sorts during rehearsals for royal events.

The Court Circular does not show any engagements for The Queen for 4 April 2022.

That weekend, The Queen hosted a small family reunion party outside in the grounds of Frogmore House, Windsor attended by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their children, Princess Beatrice and her daughter Sienna.

During the week, in person ceremonies were carried out by The Prince of Wales, The Princess Wales and other representatives on behalf of their mother. The Queen herself conducted other engagements via video links.

It isn't impossible for her to have been in London on that particular day but it wouldn't have been in a carriage.

I'm wondering if your vistor might have seen some filming for TV series The Crown or some rehearsals else she would have notice cameras. Just a thought.

Could it have been that it was either the coach carrying the documents for the Queen to sign from St. James' Palace or an Ambassador on their way to be presented to the Queen?

The Times used to publish the court circulars, or extracts thereof, which would indicate the whereabouts of HM on any particular day. Not sure if this still happens though. Someone might know…
