Totally outrageous, misogynistic so called news item in the dreaded DM today.

Senior Tories have accused Angela Raynor of distracting our buffoon Prime Minister by crossing and uncrossing her legs - à la Sharon Stone - in Prime Minister's question time.

Can they sink any lower???

Yet another disgusting example of the true mind sets of the guffawing Tories. They're a disgrace yet again.

Good.
It's time this kind of thing was put firmly where it belongs - circa 1953 or thereabouts.

The Mail on Sunday editor has been summoned. Good news. Be interesting to see who this MP actually is.

I think the fact this Tory source has remained anonymous shows just the measure of him or her.

MissAdventure Mon 25-Apr-22 16:55:05

I think any bad names they have, they have rightfully earned, long before any comment.

Sorry to disappoint you but I read the Mail . So one anonymous person makes a comment and all Tories get a bad name ?

The rest of the World doesn't care about the British English class system

Exactly. So why bring the word "common" into it? Unless as I said it was meant as coarse?

No, hang on a minute.

People have said she makes them cringe and doesn't have a good enough education to mix with world leaders on their own terms. Then someone answered my question about whether they might consider her too common with "yes they would."

Don't be blaming me for using the word!

MissAdventure Mon 25-Apr-22 16:45:09

We couldn't possibly have a coarse pm.
It's only ok to speak about spaffing up the wall in a posh way.

For those who are against paying for an education I would like to point out not all who attend private school are from Tory minded backgrounds. My GS is going to private school in September as the state school system has failed him. Years of battles with systems and Headteachers have pushed the whole family to pool resources for funding to give GS opportunity to flourish.

So what about the children whose parents also have battles with systems and headteachers, who seriously don't have the funds, even if the pool family resources? I guess they just have to lump it.

PS. I wouldn't wish any child not to flourish, but going to a private school won't guarantee that he/she will.

^But they are all well off. Their families have enough money from whatever source, to send them to private school^.
They are not ALL well off, neither are their families.

Yes, they are (or have well-off grandparents) - compared with the average. The majority of people don't have enough spare money to send their children to even the cheapest private school.

volver Mon 25-Apr-22 16:23:51

Sorry, forgot to quote. That was for Joseanne

volver Mon 25-Apr-22 16:23:16

Yes they are. There are people who can't afford to turn on their kettles. Who can't afford to cook potatoes.

If you've paying for an education, you're well off.

Yes Volver, they would. You can’t go flying off the handle and not be a good speaker as PM, just fact. Could you see her on age world stage? Negotiating. Just because you don’t care for Boris, understandable, you can’t have someone like her. I don’t deny she comes from the school of hard knocks but she is far from a world player.

someone like her? okey dokey.

She was the senior official for Unison in the North West. She probably has enough negotiation skills to see her through. And proper leaders find the best person on their team to conduct each job. So, for instance, she might find somebody who knows the difference between the Baltic and the Balkans.

I have no particular fondness for Rayner, but I do get on the side of the person from an ordinary background when someone says they're not the right person for the job because they might be just a bit too common, what, what?

Ramblingrose22 Mon 25-Apr-22 16:18:58

Well said, Dickens. All that the BoJo - and his father for that matter -seem to be good at is shagging and producing more children.

BoJo is always visiting hospitals - maybe to appear to show that he appreciates the hard work of the doctors and nursing staff. But most NHS employees have worked his Government during the pandemic and seen who they really support.

As for the Mail on Sunday it is no surprise that they produce journalism that belongs in the gutter, along with their editor and all their staff.

Oh dear. Might they think her too common?

I don't know if she'd be any good or not, but I would rather see her talking to Macron than the buffoon we've currently got doing it.

Your words, not mine ,*volver*. Just because I come from the East End I am neither common nor vulgar. And anyway, how much does any politician on the international scene know about provenance and class in this country. It is irrelevant unless you want to dig deeper. I prefer what you see, is what you get.
AR might not actually speak as good French as Boris, but it wouldn't matter because Macron speaks fluent English anyway. Although someone might need to enlighten him that la crasse has nothing to do with the ring left round the bath.

This is my red line wink

I'm sure Angela Rayner could raise the barr a little higher than talking about Peppa Pig .

Dickens Mon 25-Apr-22 16:09:21

“My session with the dons was scheduled for first thing after breakfast, meaning I was staying the night and had an evening to kill in the college bar. Johnson was propping up the bar with his coterie of acolytes whose only apparent role in life was to laugh at his jokes. Three years older than me … you’d have expected him to play the ambassador role, welcoming an aspiring member of his college … Instead, his piss-taking was brutal. In the course of the pint I felt obliged to finish he mocked my speech impediment, my accent, my school, my dress sense, my haircut, my background, my father’s work as farm worker and garage proprietor, and my prospects in the scholarship interview I was there for. His only motivation was to amuse his posh boy mates.”

Do you know what is so maddening about this? Individuals like Johnson, Rees-Mogg, etc, couldn't function in a world without farm workers, garage proprietors, and all the other workers who keep the wheels oiled and the infrastructure running.

If you were cast, shipwrecked on a desert island, or isolated for any other reason from civilisation - who would you rather be marooned with? Those that know how to sow seeds, understand mechanics, can build things from bits of wood... have practical brains and hands? Or an over-privileged elite who has probably never done a day's real work in his life?

An under-educated working class person can learn, can study, can catch up with his / her education throughout their whole lives. Do people like Johnson ever attempt to do anything useful for others, or society as a whole.

I remember reading that the novelist, Evelyn Waugh, one of the biggest elite snobs ever, was always stunned into silent admiration whenever he came across a craftsman, be it gardener, carpenter, etc. He had huge respect for an 'art' that he himself was not capable of.

... and frankly, any wealthy individual who has been raised with any decency and proper 'breeding', always treats those who are supposedly inferior to him, with respect. IMO, Johnson is simply an educated oaf with no social skills or graces. There, I've said it.

MissAdventure Mon 25-Apr-22 16:09:14

Johnson is a good speaker? grin

What is "PM Material"?

Currently you just need to be a philanderer, shagaholic, prolific liar, be incoherent, entitled and a lawbreaker.
