Keir and Angela’s drinks party

After all the relentless droning on day after day, about Boris having a drink, the very same month we now find that Keir and Angela did the same. Pity the video came out or they might have got away with it, What hypocrisy, I believe the Durham police are going to treat this in exactly the same way as the conservatives were, or perhaps it’s different rules when you are the opposition, so let’s wait for the sort of apology Boris gave, the sort of grief Keir relentlessly day after day, war or no war, inflicted on Boris to resign, let’s hope he gets the same. All the time knowing what they had done but not owned up to and banking on not being caught out. Talk about two faced. How can you believe award he says. As he was fond of saying, rules are rules whomever you are. (If you are caught out).

"Johnson and those with him broke the law. Starmer and those with him did not."
No, Boris has been fined, Keir hasn't, yet.

My point is that No10 Downing Street is a workplace. There is also a flat on the top floor. Scroll back over the previous posts and you'll (probably) get my point.

You obviously cannot explain why what you say makes sense as it makes no sense at all Aveline. There are some other posters sadly, more competent at posting fake and misleading news.

Johnson and those with him broke the law. Starmer and those with him did not.

Johnson's party was apparently mild in comparison to those to come. The police were happy to help Johnson with this by delaying the announcement of the fines. If they hadn't, that is what we would be talking about. This is a complete distraction which those who peddle extremist views set out to cause.

This has all been an attempt to 'polish a turd' by throwing the muck from it at other, cleaner party.

Every place I worked at had a fridge. Offices in general do.
Angela and Keir party 30 April, just after the other one, how could Keir a lawyer forget Angela was there, to forget that what else had he and her conveniently forgotten. He really would make a poor lawyer with such short term memory loss, but he does however know the law, all the time slamming the other side. The public are not daft they will make up their own minds, 8ndont care about either one if them having a drink with people they work with, it’s ridiculous..They have been caught out and their memories are back.. Labour honest mistake of course, , Tory a cover up. Both places of work and both in lockdown. I do think lying to the house and misleading it, for whatever reason is not one, so that’s Boris, Angela and Keir out for a start.

Of course we had a fridge.

It was full of Morrison's sandwiches and week-old milk.

Not beer.

People are entertained in offices. At my firm we regularly entertained clients - lunches and after work drinks - in the office.

Whitewavemark2 Sun 01-May-22 09:40:14

I think what aveline is trying to suggest is that as it is an office people are entitled to stop for a drink and bite to eat. However what she is not putting into the equation was the law at the time.

What happened in No 10 was against the law. We know that because the police say so. It was a crime.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 01-May-22 09:39:50

Google how many cocktail parties, lunch and dinner functions are held at Downing Street.

It is not just a workplace.

Germanshepherdsmum Sun 01-May-22 09:38:54

We had a drinks fridge but no raucous parties.

volver Sun 01-May-22 09:31:44

In my entire working life, no "office" I ever worked in had a beer fridge or a raucous party which destroyed children's toys or woke the neighbours sleeping upstairs.

We had a BBQ in the car park once.

What have I been missing?

We also know that Nos. 10 & 11 contain the rent free flats in which the PM and the Chancellor of the Exchequer, respectively, live.

So, again, what is your point, Aveline?

MaizieD Sun 01-May-22 07:51:25

Aveline

Not winding people up. Just displaying some knowledge that seems to elude some.

What knowledge is eluding some?

We all know, surely, that there is a a large number of offices over the Downing St site, which encompasses No 10, No 11 and other adjoining buildings.

What is your point?

Casdon Sun 01-May-22 07:43:42

But you’re wrong Aveline. Until a couple of weeks ago 10 Downing Street was also the residence of the Chancellor of the Exchequer and his family - everybody must remember his departure surely, it was all over the news.

I haven't read this for a few days but it seems that the Tory/Brexit/Johnson supporters are out in force. 100% for effort - wasted.

10 Downing Street is just an office, a workplace for lots of people.

Are you just winding people up or shall we just assume the level of your knowledge from that comment?

It’s nauseating to see attempts to compare on work meeting with the shenanigans in 10 Downing street

I would say that is a good summary Iam. I am afraid the lies flying around the thread are equally sickening.

I don't get why they do it though. All that has happened with the attack on Angela's legs was Conservative women took umbrage and turned on their own.

What on earth revelations/floor crossings or turning on Johnson are likely to happen if the 'just and true' (there are two left, I believe) turn on their party in the same way. Not every Conservative is quite as vituperous as some on here.

I have already voted in the local election but not for Labour. More of this and that is definitely where my vote will go in the GE.

Urmstongran

Just so it’s clear - when Labour get caught out in a lie it’s an honest mistake made in good faith.
?
That all right then.
Just one more thing. When it was originally denied that Rayner was there, why did she not immediately correct the lie as she most certainly knew where she was at the time.

Who "denied" it Urmstongran. I know you don't "do facts" but you are throwing accusations around and need to back them up.

I'm just trying to decide if this is satire or not.

He's not being serious, is he?

You shouldn’t laugh, but it broke here - look at the headline!
www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10764839/Keir-Starmer-flouted-Covid-lockdown-guidance-birthday-bash-TWO-cakes.html

I'm a bit confused here. What date are we talking about? Starmer's birthday is on 2 September, when England wasn't in lockdown.

Exactly, Keir’s birthday is on 2nd September growstuff. At that time it was permitted for gatherings of this kind. The Mail is trying to say this is the same as Boris’s birthday party at the height of the lockdown in June. And to compound it, he had TWO cakes, not just one like Boris. Honestly, if their reporters weren’t mad they would be dangerous.

Urmstongran Sat 30-Apr-22 20:07:00

An honest mistake? AN HONEST MISTAKE???
Yes your honour I did say I saw an elephant but now know it was a mouse. It was an honest mistsake I assure you.
