This is what despots do. Cling on to power to the bitter end. Trump did the same. They both had / have such a belief in their entitlement and superiority, and neither Johnson nor Trump have the capacity for self-reflection. I thought Tony Blair was bad enough with his refusal to accept that the Iraq war had been a mistake, or to listen to those who opposed it, but Johnson has outclassed him in his stubborn attempt to dig in his heels.

He hasn’t thrown any of the civil servants under the bus (as some on here thought he would). He wouldn’t be drawn to ‘name names’. Some folk predicted he would ‘do anything to save his own skin’.

I think he’s got this year to do something about the economy, or N.I. Unless there’s some tangible evidence of progress, he’s toast. His backbenchers will take him down if they don’t feel the Tories have regained ground.

For Pete's sake, Urmstongran, he's had quite a lot of time already and done nothing but make things worse in Northern Ireland and taken a lot of credit for things that other people did (eg the vaccine rollout - didn't see him getting his hands on a syringe, did you?). How much lack of "tangible progress" do you need?

I think it is beneath contempt for the backbenchers to "take him down" only if they feel that their disgraceful party has not "regained ground" and not do it for the excellent reason that he is an international embarrassment, a liar and an all-round horrible apology for a human being.

Can some one explain what he is delivering? He keeps saying he is delivering but I can't figure out what it is.

Boris Johnson still claiming he only went to leaving events. First, that’s a lie. The Sue Gray report makes that clear. Second, work events were not allowed any way. So he’s still lying.

He is never going to resign is he? Neither are the spineless backbenchers going to force him out.

It is down to the voter.
