Apparently he’s unable to speak, but it is very early days so time will tell how well he recovers.
I do feel for this man. Yes he was very foolish to get involved with the paparazzi prior to the wedding but then he has repeatedly apologised, and has acknowledged how very stupid it was to trust them.

Anyway perhaps this will mark the turning point with Meghan as she will surely be rushing to his bedside.

I really resent being labelled as racist. I have never been racist in my life!

Harry would have known that the "secret meeting" with the Arch Bishop was definitely not a marriage, even if Meghan had an American take on the whole thing.... yet he sat there with Oprah and let her claim that.

If they really wanted a small private ceremony, like Beatrice had, then surely they could have had that! And the UK could have saved millions !

I hope it wont spoil your time away maddy. You know she's being well taken care of so enjoy your break flowers.

I'll echo that
She is in the right place with experienced staff.

Enjoy your holiday ?

I am not a fan of Meghan or Harry, think their spoilt behaviour appalling. However she has said she wants to see her father, no net flix or reporters, just her and him. If this is the case I’m pleased. To say that Thomas Markle faked being ill on is cynical in the extreme, the hospital would not collaborate that untruth, they have said he was very I’ll. I hope she does the right thing and makes things right with her father. How he must have suffered losing the girl he loves so much.

maddyone Sun 29-May-22 15:15:12

My mother is not well every time I go away, without fail! We’re away now and my mother has texted me to say she is not well.
I can’t speak for Mr Markle. Let’s hope it wasn’t too serious. Sometimes a mild stroke is called a TIA. I’m not saying that’s what’s happened to him.

Callistemon21 Sun 29-May-22 15:01:02

Possibly the A of C's views on what constitutes a marriage are somewhat limited by his position

That was a joke, wasn't it?
???

I think he knows the law of the land

Callistemon21 Sun 29-May-22 14:59:47

So perhaps her perception of marriage is different to his

But not marriage as it wouldn't be legal.

They could have made promises to each other - anyone could do that - but it wasn't a marriage.

Gossamerbeynon1945 Sun 29-May-22 14:56:07

My husband had a serious stroke. He was in hospital for 6 months. He had speech and language therapy for six weeks when he left hospital. He can't speak at all, 7 years later.

Mau52 Sun 29-May-22 11:41:43

Harris27. You are surely not suggesting Thomas snr deliberately had a stroke to coincide with the Jubilee?

icanhandthemback Sun 29-May-22 11:34:36

If Thomas Markle is home already, can we assume that it was a very mild stroke so he is not on his death bed? In that case MM can hardly be criticised for choosing not to go to his bedside.
I'll be honest, I am cynical about how ill he was. It strikes me as odd that each time he is about to visit the UK, he gets seriously ill. I have a mother who did that every time she had an exam or something she didn't want to do! She was extremely convincing before the thing she wanted to avoid but bounced back remarkably quickly once it was out of the way.

For Meghan and Harry, the private exchange of vows means more to them than the big church and the dignitaries and the fancy frocks.

I like them for that. But then I'm a nasty atheist Republican wink

a marriage rehearsal, but she didn’t know ? The Arch Bish
didn’t make an appointment with them for a rehearsal, they phoned him and said we want to get married three days before
our wedding day but no one is to know

There was no private ceremony in the garden, fact

Were you there? shock

Possibly not, as it was "secret" ?

But the Archbishop of Canterbury was and he said there was no private ceremony in the garden beforehand.
I don't think he'd lie ?

Possibly the A of C's views on what constitutes a marriage are somewhat limited by his position. However he wasn't the one getting married and if H&M chose to regard vows made in private as their true marriage vows and the subsequent ceremony as a public display I can't see there can be any objection to that.
After all she comes from a culture where people get married in all sorts of weird places and you can buy on line a certificate which enables you to perform marriage ceremonies. So perhaps her perception of marriage is different to his.

Anniebach Sun 29-May-22 11:07:47

There cannot be marriage in a garden without witnesses and a registration of the marriage, fact

It’s reported Mr Markle has been discharged and gone home. Hopefully he’ll recover fully at home. Whatever the situation with his daughter, the ongoing stress can’t have been good for him over the last few years.

Joseanne Sun 29-May-22 08:23:04

Glorianny there was another interview Meghan did with Ellen (best forgotten I'm my opinion.)
Perhaps the Oprah one was the only big one because it got everything off their chests. But the timing was dreadful.
I have always admired the way the children have been kept away from the cameras.

Whether or not he is a nice person, a nasty person or something in between Thomas Markle is her Dad and he is in distress. At such times you need your family.

Glorianny Sun 29-May-22 00:09:23

As far as I know the Oprah interview is the only one Meghan has given since she left the UK. She has attended some functions and made a few public appearances, but she hasn't paraded her children in public. She has in fact kept a relatively low profile which has more in common with her mother than with her father and his side of the family.
As for the marriage I would imagine a private ceremony in a garden would have much more significance for her than the great public display which she must have regarded as similar to a performance. Perhaps it wasn't legal or official, just a personal commitment that meant marriage to her and Harry.

Callistemon21 Sat 28-May-22 22:37:17

She is dignified and keeps her own counsel
Wise woman.

Definitely

Its frustrating

Im not even sure what i think of Megan really

The only real thing I have taken from it all is that Megans family, by their own words and behaviour, are pretty awful

Apart from her Mother who seems lovely.
