Biggest increase in benefits and pensions for 32 years.

The Tories, and their supporting media, are pointing out that measures announced on Thursday represent the biggest increase in pensions (including the reinstated triple lock), and benefits, for 32 years, apparently.

Poorest households will be £1000 better off, the richer households will be £2000 worse off.

I bet it's all whipped back again next year though.

I don’t think that they have that correct tbh.

I must sort it out and get back.

I did read that the richest households would be a bit worse off but not to the tune of £2000. Not sure what is being included in that figure.

Not sure about the poorest.

It's probably to do with earnings, savings, wealth and tax.

How does Sunak define richer households?

Anyone with an income of £50,000+ pa?
Or someone with an income similar to his?

The poorest were poorer by £1000 when he withdrew the uplift in UC. Now he has reinstated it. Not much of a rise really.

They taken away the triple lock for a full year before giving us something back so it is not really true to say biggest rise in benefits. We were 3.1% down in real terms when they decided to suspend the triple lock as inflation was at that time 6.2%.Its almost 10% now.
The spin doctors can't spin that!
