It seems that the Home Secretary is willing to send people who having spent their recent lives escaping war are now to find themselves forcibly transported to a country now at war with its neighbour.

What is the matter with Patel?

No idea what happened to that jumbled post

I tried to PM Urms and received the generic message GN attach to accounts that are suspended

^this account is unable to receive PMs at the moment^

I have no idea how to tell if a poster has been banned. Could it be that Urmstongran has disabled her PMs?

Whitewavemark2 Thu 16-Jun-22 12:55:37

Racist posts will not be tolerated by GNHQ because they have the law to consider.

Racist comments get taken down quicker than anything else.

I didn’t see the post so might be wrong.

But honestly if the post was racist, I applaud the decision to have it removed.

volver Thu 16-Jun-22 12:53:44

Ah well. I stand corrected.

Kandinsky Thu 16-Jun-22 12:53:30

Oh that’s a shame.
It’s already so one sided on the politics board it won’t be worth reading now.

Urmstongran tried to PM and got this message, so she is banned, for how long?

is currently unable to receive PM’s

volver Thu 16-Jun-22 12:47:47

I doubt that Urmstongran has been banned. Maybe she'll come along and put us all out of our misery.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 16-Jun-22 12:46:38

I didn’t see Urmstongrans deleted post. The refugee/asylum seekers is a hot potato and extremely divisive, being whipped up by certain sectors of MSM.

I appreciate that posters all have differing views, I hope that Urms has not been banned, even temporarily.

growstuff Thu 16-Jun-22 12:38:20

Has Urmstongran been banned? confused

volver Thu 16-Jun-22 12:29:35

I presume you didn't see Urmstongran's post Maudi, since GNHQ deleted it pdq when they were alerted to how hateful it was?

Although our PM has completely eroded standards in public life, I'm glad to see that they still exist on GN and that people are held to account for what they write.

MaizieD Thu 16-Jun-22 12:28:37

Maudi

You've probably got Urmstongran banned hope you're proud of yourselves. You can certainly be an echo chamber now.

You'd prefer a racist echo chamber then, Maudi

I think you're probably in the wrong place.

Maudi Thu 16-Jun-22 12:23:32

Anyone else see the dreadful Suella Braverman on Peston last night? She started by blaming 'European' courts for halting the Rwandan flights, and was pulled up sharp by Peston for inferring that this was an EU decision rather than by the ECHR, she then said that 'nothing was off the table' including leaving the ECHR......this person is Attorney General for heaven's sake. Oh, and she rounded off by calling Peston a Remainiac.

volver Thu 16-Jun-22 10:16:21

Seems I wasn't the only person who thought it was racist.

growstuff Thu 16-Jun-22 10:16:04

My daughter's partner lives in Manchester, is from a Muslim background and has an appearance consistent with parents coming from Sudan and Yemen. You wouldn't believe it, but there are actually some people locally who think he's a terrorist. hmm He really should have some label stating he went to Manchester Grammar School, has an MSc and has a senior job in a well-known data company.

Along with my daughter, he was living within a few metres of the Ariadne Grande concert incident and heard it. Strangely enough (sarcasm), it affected him too, but people still think he's a wannabe terrorist.

Some people!

volver Thu 16-Jun-22 10:07:48

That's so racist UG, honestly.

And our borders are fine. It's just Johnson and his ilk who try to tell you otherwise.

You aren’t alone lucky girl. It’s shameful.

Luckygirl3 Thu 16-Jun-22 09:17:52

And the millions of pounds being poured into this grossly unethical scheme ..............

I find the whole idea beyond belief. I can understand that a state might have a legitimate right to return a refugee to their own country (there is a whole debate there to be had of course), but to physically force a fellow human being to get onto a flight to a country with a poor human rights record against their wishes? ........ this goes beyond any standards of decency and it is MY country and government who are doing this. And I am powerless............

Iam64 Thu 16-Jun-22 09:12:33

That’s chilling whitewave
We have a PM whose long standing behaviour demonstrates contempt for the law.

Today I met a police officer about death threats I’ve got for being a human rights lawyer.

Today I read the PM’s words criticising lawyers representing asylum seekers.

These things are not unrelated.

This Government is undermining the rule of law, & putting us all at risk.

Thank heavens for leftie lawyers. Integrity and brains, something that went missing from the front bench when Johnson became PM

??

“Tory MP, Bob Blackman, says the answer is to “speed up and issue thousands of notices”, so that presumably courts cannot cope. Priti Patel agrees.

Take a moment to think about this proposal. That the executive actively tries to overwhelm the judiciary, to bypass due process.”

What. when the Home Office has been told to cut its civil service establishment and can barely cope with processing applications now?

How would it manage to 'speed up'?

Unless they intend to not even consider asylum applications; just to arbitrarily place people on deportation lists...

Iam64 Wed 15-Jun-22 20:50:22

Whitewave - it may be good on this thread as well ??

? some leftie lawyers.

This is on the wrong thread?. Sorry to confuse, but it is worth looking at.
