Loud cheers for the Sussexes, loud boos for the Johnson’s

I can now believe that GN is definitely a counter culture?.

Frail Queen looking glamorous at 96 as always.

Good isn’t it?

I liked this one too Urmstongran

That was an excellent show last night.

Our creative industry is second to none, which is why the lack of support from this philistine government is so distressing.

Thank you CG! smile

My favourite photo from Friday.

Johnson being jeered was in Reuters new report so has gone round the world.

vegansrock Sun 05-Jun-22 07:02:07

Apart from the ( diminishing number of) diehard fans, Johnson is spectacularly unpopular at the moment.

FannyCornforth Sun 05-Jun-22 05:36:53

Such statesmanship hmm

DiamondLily Sun 05-Jun-22 04:51:29

When Johnson went to a restaurant, he also got booed and heckled by some diners.

He gave them "the finger"...?

If I’d have been there, I would have slapped Johnson around the chops with my snowy white gloves.
And then kneed him in the groin.
And then summoned my crew to kick him around the nave.

I'd pay to see that

Me too, although I think you’d be permitted to take one of your gloves off to do it!

Now this& is a cause for celebrations - I agree with Anniebach.

And I'd boo Johnson wherever he was, church or no church. Going in there and reading that passage? Hypocrite.

Yes me too !

Did your father have any words of wisdom about the rights and wrongs of telling nonstop lies, Mollygo?
My father would be appalled at what’s going on now, and no, he had no such magic wand to stop lie telling. His opinion of some politicians lying, prior to BJ was well known to his family so I’m quite sure he wouldn’t have held back now.
But he still wouldn’t have booed because that would bring him down to the level of the people he was booing and definitely not during the National Anthem or outside a church.

Joseanne you are exceptionally fortunate to live in the community in which you do.
I would have really enjoyed the ‘eating in the street plus cut out mask’ experience.

Jaxjacky Sat 04-Jun-22 18:47:38

I boo at the panto ?

GrannyGravy13 Sat 04-Jun-22 18:21:56

Exactly GSM ??

I think people entering or leaving any place of worship shouldn’t be subjected to abuse Maizie.

Three bobs out of that entire congregation? It seems like a minority pastime to me! It also looked orchestrated, like we all used to bang our desk lids in unison in school (and then get a detention for doing so ?).

Are we talking about booing or bobbing now? hmm

MaizieD Sat 04-Jun-22 17:59:53

School taught us not to boo because it was impolite or bad sportsmanship.

Of course it's appalling to boo the opposing team in a sporting fixture.

OTOH, booing to express disapproval of someone's actions is a perfectly valid form of protest. In earlier years the populace was into hissing their disapproval and had no hesitation in hissing anyone, from the monarch downwards.

Did your father have any words of wisdom about the rights and wrongs of telling nonstop lies, Mollygo?

I'm also curious, GSM, to learn at what distance from a church one has to be before one can drop the veneer of sanctity and indulge in vocal protest... Is it just C of E churches or does it apply to RC and non conformist places of worship, too? How about mosques or temples?

In any case, if people want to bob, I don’t believe there’s a law against it and it’s not for anyone here to tell anyone else what to do. Some of those who wouldn’t, have already made that plain on here.
Reading posts about bad manners-when we were young food had to be eaten sitting down -whether at a street party, on a picnic or at home. The exception might have been canapés at a cocktail party, but I was never invited to one of those as a child, so I don’t know.
School taught us not to boo because it was impolite or bad sportsmanship. My father said it reduced those booing to the level of those they were booing.
Things change. Now it’s not just OK to boo, but also to broadcast it in the media. I just remember my father’s words.

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 04-Jun-22 16:45:05

Nevertheless, time and place and for me that place is not outside a church.

I agree aonk it was the wrong place to show disproval of the PM.
Outside Parliament or Downing St. would be more appropriate.

Do you remember when you could stand outside 10 Downing Street in the 60s, cannot do that nowadays.
