A Swell Idea From ASDA To Deter Shoplifters!
Sir Anthony Gormley whose mother was German has just applied to become a German citizen and of course an EU citizen. He tells the truth about brexit. It is time more public figures told the truth about this self afflicted disaster.

So many Brexit problems have been pointed out but those that deny the facts are not showing strength, but weakness. The right wing seem to need an enemy for validation and blame anyone else for things going wrong but themselves. Look at the Republicans in the USA, Putin in Russia and the Tories here.
For a list of brexit problems in July watch to Power
Wasn’t Keir in Germany the other week doing just that? It’s only by having a new government that we can start to build our relationship with the EU. And I’m pretty sure I know who they’d rather deal with.

Tourists to Spain now need to prove they can spend £85 per day. Another Brexit dividend.
This is not a new requirement. It has always been in existence for travellers in the EU from third countries (and that's us now).
The UK has always operated the same sort of 'rules' for non EU travellers
Steve Peers, Professor of EU Law, Human Rights etc, explains here:

Talking (arguing) last night with another English resident here in France who believes that our economy is doing well, unemployment figures are low and we should all stop criticising the country. Like many people with Tory views he claims not to be a Tory. I must ask him who he fancies for the next leader.
Meanwhile the French just smile benignly and comment about the debates.
Many businesses are leaving Brexitland -who can blame them? U.K. now bottom of the growth league table with only Russia, hit by sanctions, below- meanwhile we have created our own sanctions - madness.

Tourists to Spain now need to prove they can spend £85 per day. Another Brexit dividend.
British wine wholesaler who last year criticised Brexit as the biggest threat to his business in 30 years has decided to leave the UK after post-Brexit paperwork left him with a £150,000 hole in revenue.

Brexit has cost the UK its technology sovereignty
Hermann Hauser, founder of ARM, notes that:
“China and Europe are the only three “technology sovereignty circles”, with the chip-making factories and 5G knowhow needed for a modern economy. “Britain has no chance of being technologically sovereign,” Hauser says. “Brexit has been the biggest loss of British sovereignty since 1066.”
This is why the vast majority in my industry, software and IT infrastructure, were completely opposed to brexit, regardless of whatever other political views we might have held. We knew the damage that brexit would cause to our ability to innovate. But as brexiters tell us, 100% of all British dog grooming businesses do not export to the EU so who cares?

" The leave campaign was built on the delusion that Britain could put up barriers to trade with its closest neighbours and yet become richer as a result. It relied on the likes of maverick economist Patrick Minford, who said a hard Brexit would magic an extra £135bn of annual income for the UK economy. In fact, and entirely predictably, the Office for Budget Responsibility estimates that Brexit has caused an annual loss of some £80bn."
Jonathan Fredland writing in The Guardian
Why anyone would think that erecting trade barriers with your closest neighbours and biggest market would leave the U.K. better off beats me, yet that was the big fat lie that was sold. We know that British trade and growth has been hit hard, cost billions and will continue down the pan.
Not all gloom and doom though varian.

David Amess supported brexit but I don’t remember him being part of the group of people that were constantly on tv persuading us that voting leave would be a good thing. I’m referring to the group of people involved with Cambridge Analytica etc. Are you happy to include your late MP with people like Bannon? There’s a big difference between public figures that supported leave and those that were instrumental in gaslighting people with false information about the EU.
MayBee70
Apologies if it’s been mentioned earlier but Steve Bannon is in big trouble in America. This is a man who was instrumental in getting Trump to the White House and brexit. Is there anyone behind brexit that hasn’t been found to be totally corrupt?
Yes, my late MP, David Amess.
Wasn’t Braverman fast tracked by Johnson to the Attorney General position because she was prepared to ignore laws, both domestic and international?

Brexit isn’t done. Covid got in the way. It’s been a long drawn out process. Some reports tell us the civil service mandarins are against it and drag their feet or put up obstacles. I don’t know. But I really believe the next 18 months to a GE will see tangible progress. Not before time in my opinion.
I know I’m a lone voice on here but GN and Twitter are not the centres of the universe. Many voters are silently waiting to be properly unshackled from the EU. Some say unless we decouple from the European Court of Human Rights we have little chance. I know Blair had something to do with this. Again, the likes of Suella Braverman will crack on with it now. There’s a momentum building and Brexit WILL be delivered. We’ve been patient long enough. Red tape to be scrapped and scrap tariffs on goods coming from outside the EU will see progress and bring dividends.
And that, boys and girls, is why Boris got to be PM.
???
We're so f***ed.

Should have read.
The scrapping of all tariffs or trade taxes on New Zealand's exports of lamb, beef and butter to the UK will almost certainly mean ruin for British farmers. Do we want that for all our industries?
That is exactly what Minford, Liz Truss's tame economist, predicted.
Yes, Brexit supporters want to completely ruin the UK and destroy the livelihoods of all UK workers.
But, we got back control and blue passports... worth every scrap of economic ruin.
I am baffled by people in this country who still want to be part of the EU.
The other odd thing is people who are so anti EU but will happily own property in the EU.
Here's Andrew Neil, who has a home in the south of France, in the Mail yesterday. www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-11040599/ANDREW-NEIL-EU-thats-staring-abyss.html
