Just that really.

Iam64 Wed 15-Jun-22 08:46:29

David Lammy was interviewed on this subject, radio 4 about 8am
He once more set out labour’s proposals clearly
Curious they’re always ignited it’s easier to claim they have none

His opinion is just as important as ours.
He has every right to say what he feels.

I missed their solution too. Always so easy to criticise - so much more difficult to come up with another solution.

Mollygo Tue 14-Jun-22 19:31:48

How rude you are Daisy-Anne-but never mind.
Sorry, did I miss Labours plan for dealing with the issue of stopping migrants paying a fortune to smugglers to come here. Please could you tell me once more?

Iam64 Tue 14-Jun-22 19:17:32

West end girl, Dr Arian is inspirational isn’t he. His story is so important in response to the repeated negative comments about young men/mobile phones/channel crossing

DaisyAnne Tue 14-Jun-22 19:07:11

I wonder how many times someone has to tell you Mollygo, before you actually listen.

Mollygo Tue 14-Jun-22 18:10:58

I was delighted to hear on the news that 71% of Labour were against the Rwanda.
Now please can they follow it up with their solution to the people being smuggled over here in increasingly large boats and show the Tories how it should be done?

You would hardly be a living person if you were. Until we are moribund we are always looking ahead to what's next. guess you are more energetic than many others to make this a better world and my guess is you are a political animal and a lefty at that.

All progress has to start from an arbitrary status quo. My point is that if there is something politically or morally useful about a monarch, why change what is not broken?

westendgirl Mon 13-Jun-22 16:46:03

Sorry about first line . I should have read it and deleted "and dream of becoming a doctor," sorry

westendgirl Mon 13-Jun-22 16:43:41

To get back toand a dream of becoming a doctor. the original post there is an interesting article in the Times today "Refugees shouldn't be sent to Rwanda. It's appalling and inhumane. It could have happened to my brother."It is written by Dr Waheed Arian , a former refugee and is about getting his family out of Afghanistan. He talks about arriving as a refugee on his own when he was 15. He arrived with some money , next to no education because of the war . He worked at many jobs funded himself through education and eventually won a place at Cambridge to read medicine. He works for the NHS as an A&E doctor.Perhaps we should be more open to giving these people a chance Let them work as they want to. Heaven knows there seems to be any amount of companies looking for people. He then goes on about the difficulties of getting the family out, saying " there is no route to safety that is legal or safe and no future that offers any hope if they remain "

I've never been that happy with the status quo, in anything. So many missed opportunities.

You get the job because of who your mum is but if we don't like you, we vote you out?

Just vote somebody "in" in the first place."

The advantage of getting the job because of "who your mum is," is that is the status quo. Tories are mostly all in their jobs because of their expensive educations or social contacts. Even labour MPs get off to a flying start if they have family money or social contacts.

My point is it's simpler to dismiss bad MPs and bad monarchs than it is to elect them or rely solely on family background.

This discussion seems to have moved away from the comments Prince Charles is alleged to have made. It’s going to be discussed on Jeremy Vine’s show. I’ll watch that to see what people think.

I don't know why this is so difficult...

The Royal family are facing allegations of racism. From more than one source. They have agreed that they need to investigate internally.

A poster said they were facing allegations of racism.

Another poster called her a liar.

She's not a liar.

M0nica Mon 13-Jun-22 08:39:04

'allegations' are merely gossip. Anyone can trash someone elses reputation by making totally unsubstantiated 'allegations'

I could accuse Gransnet of being part of the illuminati and hand in hand with Hilary Cinton in running a paedophile ring. Someone would say 'I believe it' even though the statement is merely an exercise in silly ideas to illustrate a point.

Galaxy

I was saying no to Caleos model. You were right to be confused grin

Sorry, my fault!

I've also included a link to a random insurance site. I didn't think it worked that way. ?

Thank you!
I could get my car insurance for almost nothing ?

Lucca Sun 12-Jun-22 14:26:24

Anniebach

grany nothing in your link confirms your claims that the royal family are racist,

No but there are “allegations”, which is what was said I believe.

Parsley3 Sun 12-Jun-22 13:21:14

She does allow them to work for her as domestic servants.

nadateturbe Sun 12-Jun-22 13:18:54

"To hear the Queen actively discriminated against black and Asian employees, and still has the freedom to do so, is shocking."

Shocking indeed. I wouldn't have thought this possible.

Galaxy Sun 12-Jun-22 12:56:17

I am sure they are grateful for the publicity smile

Anniebach Sun 12-Jun-22 12:47:58

Mollygo all very confusing , grany knows the Queen doesn’t do anything except unveil plaques and cut ribbons and she knows the Queen personally chooses who works in Buck
House, Windsor Castle, Sandringham, Balmoral, that’s a hell of
a lot of checking job applications, how does she find time to cut ribbons.

Galaxy Sun 12-Jun-22 12:47:17

Sorry that wasnt to you Volver. I dont want someone to get a job automatically and then have to vote them out if they are unpleasant. It also presupposes that we as the public would know if the person was unpleasant or not. I have no idea if PC is a good man or not.

volver Sun 12-Jun-22 12:46:56

OK, so if we follow Caleo's model we do get to vote, but we only get to vote people out.
