What a surprise NOT! I assume they’re hoping that people will be so buoyed up by the Jubilee celebrations that no-one will object.

They are entitled before they get into the education system though Wwm2.
Anyway I am glad PA is off the list of attendees at the Garter ceremony. I would unscrew his brass name plaque from the woodden chair. There is an impressive line up of names there, and some dodgy ones too. I get to choose whose seat I sit in when DH sings Evensong there, so I know whose chair I won't sit in.

Let’s face it, just being born into the RF doesn’t guarantee any level of intelligence- PA came across as arrogant and extremely dim in that Emily Maitlis interview.

Yes, I know and I really don’t want to flog the point, but I think that there is little doubt that the schools they attend reinforce the sense of entitlement.

I'm with Urmstongran, it's just being mean to Scotland!
He's really no clue, has he, how this taint will be with him forever. Could he not just work quietly, behind the scenes?

Chocolatelovinggran Mon 13-Jun-22 08:06:11

I'm with Urmstongran - it's just mean to Scotland. Sadly the taint of the last year will be with him forever and, even more sadly he doesn't seem to recognise this.
Could he not just work behind the scenes?

It’s bad enough that Tony Blair will be at the Garter ceremony.

Granmarderby10 Mon 13-Jun-22 08:18:25

Who did the booing at Harry and Meghan? I didn’t watch it as I was at work.

nanna8 Mon 13-Jun-22 08:23:17

They should send him to join his nephew in the US. He could mouth off and swagger around and he would fit right in.

Casdon Mon 13-Jun-22 08:35:49

To put it into perspective I haven’t seen any suggestion that he would return to public life in Scotland, or know why Scotland has been suggested unless it’s because he’s doing something at Balmoral - a social enterprise type business of some kind? He needs to do something worthwhile without public appearances or notice.

Newquay Mon 13-Jun-22 09:25:05

Work? Chocolate loving gran? He won’t know the meaning of the word-like the rest of the RF IMHO!

Smileless2012 Mon 13-Jun-22 09:32:10

If that's true Niobe then 'well done PC and PW'. They at least appear to be able to read the mood of the public.

Charleygirl5 Mon 13-Jun-22 09:35:23

PA has apparently asked that his two daughters become working royals.

He should find a but and ben somewhere and stay there with his 20 staff. Sorry Scotland.

'To err is human to forgive divine'. I learnt that saying as a child.

As did I, but forgiving someone is not the same as letting them off.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 13-Jun-22 09:39:35

I read that PA wants his daughters to become working Royals. Actually, why not? Andrew may be ghastly but his daughters seem sweet. Many of the current Working Royals are very old, e.g., the Dukes of Kent and Gloucester. Princess Alexandra is ancient too. Edward’s children are too young and Anne’s children have other interests. I suppose once Charles is King the situation will become clear. I bet he’d love to lock Andrew and his ex-wife in the Tower.

Isn't Andrew staying at Windsor just now? Sorry England!

Please stop patronising Scotland. We don't need anybody to be sorry for us. Thanks anyway.

Charles and William have apparently spoken to the Queen so Andrew won’t be appearing in public today - or ever probably if they have their way because they recognise the public backlash which will most likely occur. I suppose he has to be shunted somewhere out of the way. Sorry Scotland unless it’s to one of your inhabited islands.

eazybee Mon 13-Jun-22 09:48:53

Andrew did work; twenty-two years as a helicopter pilot, I believe.
Whatever went wrong after he left the Forces?

Meant uninhabited islands but they are too beautiful for that.

To answer LLFL, why do we need working members of the RF.?
What do they work at apart from public appearances?
I truly don’t think they would be missed.
The York girls are happy in their personal lives as far as I know and can just enjoy their young families.

Perhaps his experiences in The Falklands changed him.

It is worrying if, as reported, the Queen was prepared to allow Andrew to attend the Garter Ceremony today, and that it took lobbying by Charles and William in order to get her to change her mind. This is what has been reported, but it is not known to be correct. It most likely is though.

maddyone Mon 13-Jun-22 10:04:38

It has been reported that servicemen Andrew worked with said he was entitled and arrogant then.

Happygirl79 Mon 13-Jun-22 10:27:37

After I watched that Maitliss interview my view of Andrew changed completely. He came across as dim witted arrogant and entitled without any emotional empathy for others
Not a good look and so stupid that he actually believed it had gone well

AGAA4 Mon 13-Jun-22 11:25:41

Arrogant people like Andrew and Boris never feel remorse for things they have done.
They feel entitled to carry on as though nothing has happened and others should just move on and forget it.

Floradora9 Mon 13-Jun-22 15:13:11

Think he has backed out of the Garter ceremony charles and William had already said he would only attend the lunch and would not be seen in public.
