What a surprise NOT! I assume they’re hoping that people will be so buoyed up by the Jubilee celebrations that no-one will object.

Andrew won't be returning to public life any time soon.

So he can just roam around Windsor on his horse and wonder how such a calamity befell him

He's such a pompous arrogant fool he will still be at a loss as to what he's done.

sluttygran Tue 14-Jun-22 16:27:30

I suppose the Royals will need Andrew back to help with their ENORMOUS workload. wink

Anniebach Tue 14-Jun-22 16:30:07

Only wealthy men sleep with 17 year olds, only wealthy men mixed with wasters

Allsorts Tue 14-Jun-22 16:34:02

Well William has dug his heels in about Andrew, also Meg and Harry, let’s see how they cope.

From the Telegraph:

“Exclusive:
Prince Andrew wants royal status ‘reinstated, recognised and respected’
The Duke of York is also believed to have asked the Queen for his most coveted title back, the colonelcy of the Grenadier Guards”

He doesn’t read the room well does he?
Or he does but it doesn’t bother him.
?

Air Miles Andy has always been arrogant. They should find him a shed somewhere, completely hidden from view.

Joseanne Tue 14-Jun-22 16:43:23

I'm thinking William probably has a fiesty -- stroppy-- side to him too, but if he can channel it in the right direction then that will be good.

Although I have no time for, or interest in Andrew- he is an entitled and arrogant man - also somewhat dim and lacking in insight- he did well in the Falklands. I also agree with Coco51 and others about the motives and actions of Virginia Guiffre. I’m sure she loved all the money and connections that Jeffrey and Ghislaine had - some of which came her way. After all, in this country, the age of consent is 16 - unlike America where it is 18.

It varies by state in America and is almost always under 18. I am unaware of one where it is 18. Many Americans find it distasteful for powerful men to sleep with 17 year olds regardless of whether it’s technically illegal.

Royalty has polished the tarnish for centuries. Why stop now.

jocork Tue 14-Jun-22 17:08:32

My daughter has encouraged me to watch the crown and we recently watched the episode about the former king wanting a role then QE finding out about his nazi connections. There was no coming back for him at that point! He was not a happy bunny!

Anniebach Tue 14-Jun-22 17:33:27

Rubbish as usual from that programme , the Duke of Windsor was very popular with the people, he couldn’t stay here , he would have overshadowed the king,

Whitewavemark2 Tue 14-Jun-22 17:37:47

David Windsor was a Nazi supporter and got very involved with them.

No question about that, there is a lot of written evidence to support this.

Remember the case against him was not tested in a court of law, and his payment was not an admissionof guilt - probably agreed to avoid overshadowing the Jubilee celebrations. I am extremely suspicious that a woman, who was implicit in placing other young girls at risk, rocks up 20 years later claiming sexual abuse. Clearly she wouldn’t risk the having the case tried in a crininal court a) because the standard of proof was too high for her purpose and b) she would not get a huge payout.

Exactly Coco51, I agree entirely

Anniebach Tue 14-Jun-22 17:46:33

There was no coming back for him the day he abdicated , she turned poor .Bertie down several times, she was set for the future king but he wasn’t interested

Anniebach Tue 14-Jun-22 17:47:42

I too agree with Coco51

"Can anyone say what he is actually guilty of. Like a lot of these cases, it is women coming out of the woodwork many years later and getting very rich on the back of it. This women did not come out of this very well. There was evidence from a previous boyfriend that she was grooming girls for Epstein. Has she given the £12 million to her ‘charity’. I read that Weinstein is to be charged with offences dating back to 1996, where is the forensic evidence. I also read of a well known actress, when she was 27 went to a producers house hoping for a part in his production, he pushed her up against the wall and tried it on, she went back more times after this hoping to get the part which she didn’t, says it all really."

Wow - blame the victims, why don't you! Are you also the sort of person whose first question if a girl is raped would be, "Well what were you wearing?" Ajswan?

Rubbish, when was he accused of rape. We are talking about one case in particular where a woman has made a fortune from this accusation. Would she have gone to so much trouble if it had not been a wealthy titled man. I notice that the ‘stars who accused Weinstein did not complain at the time, only when they became famous big name stars.

Her claims regarding PA were as questionable as his defense IMO and his offer of and her acceptance of the settlement put a huge question mark over the testimony of both.

Andrew should copy John Profumo who also had a spectacular fall from grace following a sex scandal. Profumo devoted himself, very effectively, to charitable works for the rest of his life. This was recognised and he eventually gained some status and official (from the Queen and Thatcher) recognition.
Profumo was of course an able and intelligent man, Andrew is not. He could certainly do with some wise advisers who should steer him gently away from ANY return to public life.

Arto1s Tue 14-Jun-22 18:22:51

Such perfect people on here - NOT!!!

Re Profumo, I agree entirely. PA would be well advised to follow his example.

Petera Tue 14-Jun-22 19:01:46

ajswan Has she given the £12 million to her ‘charity’.

The agreement was that PA gave the money directly to the charity.

fluttERBY123 Tue 14-Jun-22 21:03:58

His only hope is to grow a beard, get some old clothes and do good works incognito for 20 years. Do a Profumo in fact. But we all know he won't.

fluttERBY123 Tue 14-Jun-22 21:04:47

Blast, someone got in before me.

Here is the thing. The man is employed by the public to perform certain duties which put him in a position of representing the country. If he wishes to perform these duties then he is obligated to act at all times in a proper and dignified manner. It is that simple. If he wants to act like a mug lair then step back from public duties and no one will care and his mummy can finance him for the rest of his life.
