I'm a Boris fan, or I was. "Supporter" is a more tricky one.
I liked him as Mayor of London, because commendable stuff got done, and to be fair he was always out there and friendly at events etc. I think he lost the plot over Brexit even though my then doorstep MP, IDS, tried to convince me otherwise. Lately I fear he has taken us for fools and I no longer have time for the man.
I move to East Devon just before covid and what do I find but another tractor obsessed fool representing us in Parliament. Not as bad as Boris, but still exasperating. It can't just me, the lot of them seem pretty useless.
So yes, to me, Boris seems like a catalyst for disaster, a poor role model, a failure as leader and he needs to go.
But he did say some funny, outrageous things!

Tories lose both by-elections.
(248 Posts)"Lib Dems win Tiverton and Honiton with swing of nearly 30%
The Liberal Democrats have achieved a stunning swing in taking Tiverton and Honiton from the Conservatives.
Their candidate Richard Foord overturned a Tory majority of more than 24,000 on a swing of nearly 30%.
It's the party's third gain from the Conservatives in just over a year, after victories in Chesham and Amersham and North Shropshire. The Lib Dems now have 14 MPs."
"Labour have won the by-election in Wakefield – taking back a so-called "Red Wall" seat they held for 87 years until it was a Conservative gain at the 2019 general election.
The turnout was 39%.
It’s Labour’s first by-election gain in almost 10 years, when they took Corby from the Conservatives in November 2012.
It takes the total number of Labour MPs in the House of Commons to 200. Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s majority in the Commons will fall to 68."

Ex Tory leader, Michael Howard, that has said that Johnson needs to go:
"Former Leader of Conservative Party Michael Howard has told BBC Radio 4's World at One that Boris Johnson should resign.
"The party, and more importantly the country, would be better off under new leadership."
"Members of the Cabinet should very carefully consider their positions," he told the programme.
On speculation about how the Conservatives could remove the PM - after Johnson won a no confidence vote on 6 June - Howard said "it may be necessary for the executive of the 1922 committee to meet and to decide to change the rules so another leadership [election] could take place".
“I always thought that the culture at No 10 at the time of recent events was unacceptable… but that culture came from the top,” he said.
“What I think yesterday makes clear is that my view is shared by very large numbers of people. The electorate delivered its verdict.
“I have always been loyal to the leader of the Conservative Party, but I think times now are different and I think that action needs to be taken.”
And on the matter of who he thought should succeed Johnson, he added: “There are certainly people in the party who could... take over the leadership, and give the country the type of leadership that it needs.”
Michael Howard was Tory party leader between 2003 and 2005, while his party was in opposition against Tony Blair's Labour government.
There'll be the full interview on World at One on Radio 4."

What I did find interesting was that apparently the Tory candidate was very well respected and thought to be a very strong contender.
At last people are beginning to think of what is happening to our country.
Cannot disagree whitewavemark2 some of the lesser known faces need to
step up and make themselves heard.
I think that if another couple of cabinet ministers have the cajones to resign it will
be the beginning of the end of Mr.Johnson’s leadership.
That should be pursuing although I guess perusing works as well?

But I don't think you're a Johnson supporter, are you GG13?
Not a Johnson supporter, but a lifelong Conservative.
Listening to your fellow supporters in Tiv and Hon. It seems to me that many may well be lost for good unless there is a complete change of personal. The trouble is that all the “faces” are so down in the gutter with Johnson that is is going to be very difficult I think.
All of the potential leaders are tainted in one way or another, either by lies or perusing their own career at the expense of their true beliefs, and of course mouthing support for such a rotten leader .

Regrouping under new leadership, might secure my X, but it is no way certain.

Any Johnson supporters commented yet? Or all got better things to do?
I'd just like to say that, yes, their views would be interesting to see even if I didn't agree with them
After all, in a democracy, listening to others' viewpoints should be a given.
However, I doubt that they will, either because they fear a backlash, got fed up with the bullying and left or worse.
The bullying was all in their mind frankly.

TBH, Johnson supporters have never struck me as delicate little flowers fearing a backlash. What would the backlash be on GN?
And in case it needs saying again, disagreeing with someone is not the same as bullying.
I'm interested what the "worse" might be.
I’ve just caught up with the Today program, listening to Nick Robinson and a very angry and flustered Raab trying to defend the PM and what has happened.
Raab: Most striking thing about Tiverton was how many of our supporters didn’t come out.
Breaking news. Raab has now returned to his office and is busy drafting new legislation. This will make it illegal for Tories to stay home and not vote. Violators will be put on a plane to Rwanda.
Best quip of the day on BBC News. Interview with John Hart Conservative Leader of Devon County Council.
Q: Are you on the Cabinet's drinks list?
A: No. I’m too honest for them.

Maybe even they have had enough!

It doesn’t matter how bad thIngs get, I shall still need a bucket ready in case I see anymore pictures of Nadine Dorries looking all gooey eyed at that great lump Bojo ?

Jeremy Vine was covering the topic earlier this morning. He made a point of saying they had asked for a comment from the government and no one came forward to speak on the programme! No takers- let's hope its a good sign
Wasn't the PM sent to Rwanda?
The accommodation looked lovely.

If all the truths eventually are revealed over the corruption, immorality and cronyism, it will be a very long time before the Tory party is trusted again.
They will need a complete change.

Reading between the lines of Dowden's resignation letter, I think it's easy to guess who he feels should take responsibility.
Personally, I would extend blame well beyond Johnson. All Tory MPs who have continued to support him no matter what, keeping him in power in spite of his blatantly obvious unsuitability, are responsible.
My thoughts exactly. I emailed my MP about Johnsons continuous lying to the public and got a stock copy and paste response. He has apologised. Move on etc.
I thanked him for his copy and paste response and told him not to expect my vote. I reminded him that our MPs are there to act for their constituents not themselves nor the political party
Well done Lib Dems!
The turnout was 39% in Wakefield
I expect people were deliberately abstaining because they are so fed up with the present Cabinet.

Let’s hope some of the Tory MP brown nosers wake up to the fact that people have had enough of Johnson’s lies.
Absolutely agree with you there. They need to open their eyes to how disliked (and that's being kind) Boris Johnson is by the public. He is no poster guy for the Conservative party!
