Apparently Johnson was planning to build a £150,000 tree house at Chequers - paid for by a Tory donor - but was forced to abandon the idea after the police raised security concerns.

My first thought was how long does he think he will have the use of Chequers for? Then what would the Tory donor expect to receive for this generosity?

What are your thoughts?

Not revamping - decamping!
Autocorrect again ?

Or was Boris thinking of revamping to it himself, away from the world?

My fantasy one will have only one key, and it will be on my keyring grin.

Actually, much of the cost could be the expensive wallpaper, furniture etc

Yes, just like the one your grandchildren had. Both my son and my daughter had similar ones for their children.

This was ours. DH could replicate it for a fraction of Boris' quote. The dog in the picture isn't Dilyn by the way, that my golden Lillie!

Not really your average child's tree house...?

"Some luxury treehouses can include things like rope bridges and zip wires, while others have hot tubs and are let out on Airbnb.

Caryn Mitten, Blue Forest's marketing director, reportedly said play houses start at about £90,000 and go up to “whatever you want to pay”.

Mr Johnson and wife Carrie did up the four-bed abode above No11, the residence of the Prime Minister, at a cost of more than £100,000.

The plush interiors were said to include gold wall coverings as the SNP accused him of “living it up like a modern day Louis the Sixteenth”.

I wish he'd just go and live in a tree house, somewhere remote and off grid, like Alaska?

You’re right Beautiful - a time of crisis in the cost of living for the general public is not the time to flaunt such extravagance. It really shows his lack of awareness and contempt for the rest of us.
