This is nothing to do with fraud. It’s the same bullying tactics as forcing firms to withdraw their advertising from GB News therefore reducing their revenue. It’s disgusting what’s happening and increasingly Orwellian.

Suspecting isn't proving. A lot of people including politicians are suspected of all sorts of nefarious activities,but without proof nothing can be brought to their door. I had no idea that suspicion could include family members. Democracy is a murky business, fine when we agree, but not so good when we don't. Being silenced in a so called democracy is truly spooky and smacks of China, Russia, N. Korea.

I know that the lib dems were involved in not reporting child abuse, I dont suspect it, I know it. Should their banks refuse a service.

I’m seriously concerned about Farage’s bank being closed. I’ve never heard of such a thing except when political sanctions are being applied by government. If Farage accepted money from Russia, and it’s a big if to me because I don’t know how any of us would know that, if he did, is it a crime? If so, surely the police, the crime squad, should be looking into it? If it’s not a crime, who’s business is it anyway? I don’t know the answers to these questions, but the famous quote comes to mind, First they came for the….. and ends with they came for you because no one was left. I’m seriously worried that this can happen in what is supposed to be a democracy. You don’t need to agree/like Farage to see the danger.

NF said on TV last night that he has never received any money from Russia. I don’t think he would have even mentioned it if he had.

Hardly their job to do this!

Banks are legally bound to monitor customer account activities for amongst other things, fraud, money laundering and certain political activities we know for instance that Farage received £548,573 from the Kremlin-backed Russia Today television station in 2018.

Coutts has a certain reputation to keep up and I suspect Farage damages that image. But I also suspect that Farage has been involved certainly in fraud - see when he was an MEP - and by the statement made in parliament involved in transactions in Russia.

Of course banks need to check for money laundering operations, but Farage is hardly likely to be doing that!
Taking money? You mean being paid by the tv station Russia Today for his input/ appearance, like countless people have done/do.Jeremy Corbyn for one.

I'm shocked reading through this thread, when did banks, financial institutions become moral arbiters, look at the trouble they've caused in the past This to me is not about whether you like Nigel Farage or not, it's about civil liberties. I read that a group of parents who campaigned to keep schools open during Covid also had their bank account closed. Paypal are known in the US for cancelling anyone who doesn't subscribe to certain orthodoxies. Lets not forget that beacon of tolerance Justin Trudeau who locked the protesting truckers out of their bank accounts during Covid.

We should be worried, very worried about loss of freedoms like these do we want to end up like China???

For what it's worth I've always unequivocally supported gay rights, gay marriage etc. but as far the LBG and whatever the letters that come after it, as with the person who queried the barrage that meets customers whether they're banking or shopping, why does it constantly have to be in our faces,Pride month or not, those were my thoughts last week when trying to locate the Maris Pipers in M&S and their vocal support was continually reiterated on a recorded loop, "just give us a break from all of it please, I'm just buying some veg, I don't need to have my head space invaded on such a continual basis"

Lets hope so, at the moment it appears that all the Banks are taking this particular attitude toward NF and his family. It does all seem to fit a certain pattern,first the advertising, then the booing, now the Bank closures. Silencing out spoken politicians is not a new tactic especially on the run-up to an election,but ensuring that they cannot access a Bank account from any Bank is certainly a new sinister twist to our murky political system.

Christina Jordan another Brexit Party MEP has been on Twitter saying that her Bank Account was also closed/frozen by Nationwide…

At a rare family gathering, my 16 year old grandson begged the question as to why there is a month to celebrate gay pride,which incidentally we all support, but only one day to commemorate the glorious dead. + all the long term affects of warfare. No one could answer him but it certainly gave us food for thought.

Because of the banks actions and when he was an MEP, his actions were said to be fraudulent. I could look it up and give greater detail if you don’t believe me.

I note that Farage has admitted that he has received payments from Russia - well he could hardly deny it now.

Under the PEP regime checks that the banks are required to carry out, they must give consideration as to whether the politician is/ has been open to bribery.

Russia again springs to mind.

I also suspect that Coutts have found something that Farage can’t explain.

Any comment about the reasons for Coutts actions, it didn’t happen for no reason although I think Farage has said something like “remainer banks” 😄😄😄.

Gordon Brown allegedly received payments from Russia,as allegedly did Jeremy Corbyn. Alec Salmon too,allegedly had some financial dealings with Russia. I have never heard that their Bank Accounts were compromised? Everything about NF is again supposition, no facts. If indeed Coutts have found a discrepancy,how does this affect his family to the point that their B/A are compromised as well as his?

The letter Christina Jordan posted is truly shocking; the Bank can't answer her questions because they are 'business-sensitive', and 'we are complying with legal and regulatory obligations.'
