I recently started watching GB News and am finding it so interesting. Once you get past the different format to the usual news programmes it is very good. There are so many different views expressed from all political spectrums. I like that contributors are allowed to say their piece and it's then debated. Not just left or right wing views.

Any one feel differently about Coutts de banking NF now we have some very clear evidence why?

Yes - Coutts shows good judgement.

I paraphrase

“Seen as xenophobic and racist. Seen as a grifter.

Being associated with Farage risks the banks reputation”

Well, I didn't expect you to change your views Wwmk2 but it does seem as if the gov. feel differently.

There has been a lot of cross party support for NF position.

This is about freedom of the individual to believe anything they choose, with in the law.

Who are the banks to decided who they do and don't agree with?

They have been bailed out with tax payers money.

Coutts lied and gave NF info to a third party, the BBC.

I noted you left out that after considerable investigation, Coutts stated there was no evidence of financial or any other dealings from NF with Russia.

A lot of this is down to ESG and AI

I asked the original question above to see if anyone else is open to change their opinion in the light of truth?

With regard to Nigel Farage, he was deemed a perfectly respctable customer of Coutts for a number of years and they were perfectly happy to use his money and accept his bank charges.
The people who have 'exited' him remain anonymous, and the Chief Executive refused to give him any reason for his expulsion when questioned. This committee needs to be made accountable for their decision.
It is reasonable for any institution to refuse to accept a new customer after investigation if they choose, but having accepted them and their money for a number of years it is totally unacceptable to remove them without even the courtesy of an explanation, and 'leak ' untrue information to cover themselves.
I shall be very interested to find out who is behind this, and I am sure NF will pursue it . I have my suspicions, but absolutely no evidence, so I shan't be saying.

I looked him up after MaizieD’s post. He’s a journalist, he presents a nightly show. It’s all over Twitter.

I had a look, realise I may have seen him, but he's hardly as well-known as Huw Edwards who was a national institution.

That's why I posted it on this thread where the GBN lovers who'd laid into Huw Edwards would know who he was.

I thought that GBN was very well known and popular. So it's devotees were telling us... 🤔

All I remembered about him was his accent.

From the BBC News website
Broadcaster Dan Wootton has admitted making "errors of judgement in the past" but denied any criminality as he responded to claims made against him.

Reports have included claims he offered media colleagues thousands of pounds for explicit material of themselves.

Wootton said on his GB News show he was the victim of a "witch hunt" by "nefarious players".

The publishers of the Sun and MailOnline say they are looking into allegations against him.

Various claims made on social media and in publications including the Byline Times, which first reported the story, and the Guardian, formed part of a campaign to get Wootton "cancelled", he told viewers of GB News' Dan Wootton Tonight.

I gave Dan Wootton a look, but, he rants, won’t watch ranters.

MerylStreep Wed 19-Jul-23 08:27:30

Banks are using an Ai program to scour social media sites to pick out any customers who don’t align with their policies.

The DW stuff has been floating around for ages. I presume the same rules apply as they did when we tried to talk about HE. We cant possibly be allowed to talk about it.

Blooming heck!
I had no idea.

However, for years I’ve known that Dan Wootton is an insufferable arse.
He pops up over various platforms.
Never seems to hang around long

Be interesting to know how many sheiks/oligarchs and dodgy African heads of states with appalling human rights records align with Coutts’ values.

As someone upthread said, it’s a slippery slope.

But it’s ok for Coutts to have Prince Andrew as a customer.

This so called report Farage has hasn't been seen by anyone though. We only have Farage's word for it, I think.

It's a private bank, so they can do as they like, but, quite honestly, I would have thought a bank's only interest is in how the accounts are conducted.

I can't stand Farage, but it's a bit of a slippery slope if banks start getting involved in the political views of their customers.

It's nothing to do with them.🙄

The DM and the Sun are also carrying out investigations into Wootton, as he has been employed by them, as a columnist, at various times:

Why isn't it getting the Huw Edwards treatment?
Because we don't know who he is perhaps?

The BBC and the Mirror have now picked up the story. Wootton is claiming that he's the victim of a witch hunt.

I can't imagine the msn would bury any story about gbn. Perhaps people are keeping their powder dry, ie, waiting to see the truth about the DW story, rather than piling in on twitter twoddle?

It’s made the Guardian.

Is he on tonight?

I was wondering when the MSM would pick up the story. It was beginning to look as though it had been buried. There's something not right about it all.

I don't think that Byline Times has a reputation for mendacity.

If it had been in the Sun I would have thought twice about posting it..
