I love GB News

I recently started watching GB News and am finding it so interesting. Once you get past the different format to the usual news programmes it is very good. There are so many different views expressed from all political spectrums. I like that contributors are allowed to say their piece and it's then debated. Not just left or right wing views.

I love Michael Portillo 😍

I love how he will have a go at anything on his travels, dancing, making pizza, trying local drinks etc. and he doesn’t make a big thing of it.

There are not many men who could carry off wearing bright green jacket with red trousers but he does!

I saw the Tominey interview with PP. Going over the same ground as the interview with Trevor Phillips.

That's what happens.
Watch one and you've watched them all!

The camilla tominey show. michael gove has just been on and now priti patel.

Your point is? Most of the broadcasters are up in Manchester and the politicians are doing the rounds. Gove was interviewed by Trevor Phillips on Sky as was Pritti Patel. I suspect that GB News was some way down the list.

Oh yes, Portillo. A man who was in a government that hated the railways but now makes programmes about them….

Why do you think he hated the railways?
Do you have evidence for that?
He was Transport Minister way before privatisation began.

Believing that the very inefficient British Railways might be better privatised does not mean he hated the railways.

In the event, he and others did admit that errors were made in the process and too many companies were formed resulting in a fragmentation of the system, not the efficiency which was desperately needed.

But it does not mean he hated the railways.

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Michael Portillo on at 11, I always like his segment..

So do I. I love all his train travel progs on other channels too.
I think he would be a very interesting and gentlemanly person to have a meal with too.

I read that the directors are in emergency talks, because there are a string of OFCOM investigations into broadcasting transgressions.

It apparently is struggling to keep its credentials as a news channel, as well as struggling financially.

I notice a strong Trump supporter George Farmer has recently joined the board , so it is very unlikely to change its radical right wing agenda, although it is expected to have a major re-think over the type of broadcasters it has platformed like Fox, Wootton, Robinson etc.

It’s not really my cup of tea but I object to the BBC trying to get it shut down. Free speech applies to both sides of any debate.

And what is there to stop people of other political persuasions starting a TV channel?
🤔

Where did I say there was anything stopping people doing this?

I should imagine lack of funds would be a big factor.

I was agreeing with you
Perhaps I should have phrased it better

I have been putting GB news on intermittently during the past few days, just to add to the viewing figures and show support.

The only thing that annoys me is the loud northern voices; don't mind the accent, where my family comes from, but why do they have to shout?

Shinamae Sat 30-Sept-23 13:37:44

But unfortunately they do have quite a few technical problems🤦‍♀️🤓
still, the only news channel, I bother with….

Shinamae Sat 30-Sept-23 13:36:25

What I really like about GB news is that you can email them in with your opinion and usually it will be read out …
