I love GB News

I recently started watching GB News and am finding it so interesting. Once you get past the different format to the usual news programmes it is very good. There are so many different views expressed from all political spectrums. I like that contributors are allowed to say their piece and it's then debated. Not just left or right wing views.

Shinamae
This attitude towards GBNews reminds me of my mother when Bouquet of Barbed Wire was on the tv.
She was disgusted but kept on watching it.
Everytime I see one of these angry of Wimbledon posts I’m reminded of the Les Dawson sketches 😂

😂😂😂

Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells

Kenny Everette 😂

This is a great thread. It’s like the DM comnents, but about TV news. Some like it, some don’t, but both sides are ardently critical of the other.

MerylStreep Sat 08-Jul-23 12:37:30

It’s a shame some posters don’t read the Daily Mail comments, they’re more scathing about the paper than anything you read on here.

I don’t know why you are being so personal Shinamae( ‘Bully for you!’)

And I don’t understand your comment to me Namsnanny.

I have watched/ do watch both GBNews and Talk (albeit listen on the radio, I’m really into my speech radio)
I’ve already mentioned this, probably several times

It is possible to be impartial you know

You do not understand the phrase “ bully for you?”really? 😁

Thank you Fanny for explaining why some people don’t like GB News. I watch a variety of news programmes, I watch the BBC every day, I watch some SkyNews and some GB News. I like the papers round up on either of those channels late at night. We rarely watch ITV news and almost never watch Channel 4 news, although I’ve liked it when I’ve seen it. We’re seeing something called Euro News at the moment in Greece which is okay but not great. At the village house we stayed when we first arrived we could get BBC World but we can’t get it here. So we’re a bit out of the loop, but that’s okay as we’re on holiday, and you lovely Gransnetters keep me up to date on anything important that’s happening anyway.

Any programme that boasts Farage, Rees Mog or even Holmes has lost me I would feel too ill to even give it a chance

FannyCornforth Sat 08-Jul-23 13:36:23

Shinamae yes, I understand the term ‘bully for you’ to be a written equivalent to the gesture of a thumbed nose.
Personal was the wrong word, I admit

FannyCornforth Sat 08-Jul-23 13:38:25

Thank you Maddy
I hope it’s not too hot 🌞
It’s always interesting watching the TV on holiday! Especially the adverts I find

Same here, if it was Rayner , Lammy and Bryant . I wouldn't watch them either.

FannyCornforth Sat 08-Jul-23 16:04:18

Lammy is on week end mornings on LBC
He regularly stands in for other presenters too
He definitely isn’t a favourite presenter of mine

I’m sure they will be absolutely gutted not to have your company 🤓

Wrong!
But to be totally honest, there might be a teeny-weeny bit of sarcasm on my part 😁

Actually, Makes you feel ill? 🫢
Dear Me, who knew they had such power over people ?

FannyCornforth Sat 08-Jul-23 16:22:12

Shinamae yes, I do get it, thanks

However, what you don’t seem to get it that it isn’t all binary - ie pro GBNews or anti GBNews.

I’m all for difference of opinion - my speech radio station of choice is LBC where they have a healthy mix of very openly left and right leaning presenters.

But LBC are held to account by Ofcom, as GBNews and Talk should be.

I do hope that is clear now

maddyone Sat 08-Jul-23 17:30:55

Pretty hot, but nice Fanny.
I’ve never heard of Talk except on Gransnet. I don’t really listen to the radio, so get my news from television mainly.
I agree it’s not binary, one thing good, other thing bad. That’s too simplistic.

MerylStreep Sat 08-Jul-23 17:38:03

This lovely lady is on quite a lot.
www.rightsandsecurity.org/about/our-people/entry/scarlett-mccgwire.

Glorie de piero is a member of the Labour part. She has her own show on the channel.

FannyCornforth Sat 08-Jul-23 17:38:09

Hello Maddy!
Lovely, I hope that you are enjoying the food, it’s my favourite.
Far and away the best thing about Talk is Ian Collins, he’s on 1 - 4pm.
I’ve been listening to him since 1995 on various stations.
In fact, his overnight shows back in the day helped me with the death of my mother.
He is incredibly witty, insightful and charming.
(I admit, that I’m a little bit smitten 😉)

I tell you who I really admire on GB News and that’s Michelle Dewberry. She does the 6-7 pm slot and never shies away from saying what she thinks and she has some good guests.

She grew up on a rough council estate in Hull and her family were on the At Risk register. She left school at 16 with no qualifications and had no idea what she wanted to do. She says that doing an NVQ apprenticeship and learning on the job was the making of her. She worked her way up and then won the Tv prog. The Apprentice (which I have never watched) and is now a very successful businesswoman and TV presenter. She also has a toddler son who has, she says, made her look at life differently.

She makes me laugh because sometimes she is reading out viewers comments and someone might say “what on earth are you wearing tonight Michelle?” And she couldn’t care less what they think and she says so. 🤣 but she says it with a laugh.

Morning Fanny and everyone else.
I’ll have a listen to Talk when I get home.

Shinamae Sun 09-Jul-23 09:50:51

Peoples panel on now, and Alan Milburn talking about the gaps in education. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
