I love GB News

I recently started watching GB News and am finding it so interesting. Once you get past the different format to the usual news programmes it is very good. There are so many different views expressed from all political spectrums. I like that contributors are allowed to say their piece and it's then debated. Not just left or right wing views.

So what FannyCornforth ?
He jumped ship as he thought GB News had technical probs and he didn’t want his high profile career to nosedive. He should have stuck with it, as he’s just the sort of non woke presenter to have enjoyed it.
GB News does more than exist, it’s popular with very many people. You seem very interested in this matter for a poster who doesn’t watch it, it’s the DM all over again 🤣 where posters who say they wouldn't dream of reading it know all about what it contains.

Popular???

BARB publishes monthly statistics on television audiences; GB News had a total identified monthly audience (including sharing and streaming) of 2,811,000 for a viewing share of 0.25%, with 0 minutes 36 seconds average daily viewing for April 2023.

I would not say a viewing share of 0.25% equates to popular.

I think we all know now that Nigel Farage is referring to Nat West ( 38% of which the taxpayer owns)
I wonder if there will be a backlash.

I thought Andrew Neil was a very good broadcaster too.
However I’m very concerned about the banks closing people’s accounts because they don’t approve of them or agree with them.
Surely everyone should be entitled to hold their own opinion without such sanctions. The banks weren’t so sanctimonious when they had their hands held out for public money to bail them out, were they?
It doesn’t matter whether you love or hate Nigel Farage, you should be very worried about this development.

T-bird. Hmm, okay.
I think that you know that I’m not prepared to argue the toss here.
But Neil did leave a 4 million pound contract.
And he is a brilliant and well respected broadcaster and newspaper man, without whom GBNews would not even exist

tickingbird Fri 30-Jun-23 18:15:42

Just because he said that doesn’t mean it’s true. It did have teething problems and they got through and now they’re doing fine. He should have stuck with it.

There it is
www.theguardian.com/media/2021/sep/24/andrew-neil-almost-had-breakdown-at-gb-news

FannyCornforth Fri 30-Jun-23 15:32:01

I read an interview with Neil in The Sunday Times or The Times and that is what he said himself.
It was more than ‘teething problems’, he said that it wasn’t ready to launch at all, which was correct

tickingbird Fri 30-Jun-23 14:43:10

Andrew Neil did not nearly have a nervous breakdown because of GBNEWS at all. He jumped ship very quickly after the launch and all the ensuing teething problems. He couldn’t hack it. He’s probably spitting feathers now. Hardly the same as being relentlessly persecuted because you’re the man that brought about BREXIT.

Jaberwok Fri 30-Jun-23 14:12:39

And that makes NF guilty of the same offence or something similar? What a strange world we live in.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 30-Jun-23 13:11:42

And of course there is the case of George Cottrell who is a colleague of Farage and in fact worked for him, he was sentenced for 8 months for laundering money gained from drug sales on the dark web.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 30-Jun-23 13:05:57

Oh and of course the banks will look for tax evasion. So you have lots of choice, not just remainer banks😄😄😄

Jaberwok Fri 30-Jun-23 13:03:13

Describing someone that you don't know or had any dealings with, as tough as old boots, is hardly sympathetic. A lot of people appear emotionally very tough, but actually are not. As I said, we all have our breaking point, even those who appear to be emotionally indestructible.

FannyCornforth Fri 30-Jun-23 12:14:18

Jaberwok I haven’t mocked anyone

Jaberwok Fri 30-Jun-23 12:11:12

That's as maybe, but everyone has their breaking point and to mock this man for needing a break from relentless media criticism is a pretty low thing to do, but unfortunately only to be expected in this era of woke brutality. This whole thing is speculation, stinks and is quite frankly shameful.

FannyCornforth Fri 30-Jun-23 11:32:05

He’s tough as old boots though Molly
He’s used to it (just my thoughts, obviously)

Mollygo Fri 30-Jun-23 11:27:58

Anyone who’s been under a lot of negative media publicity would need a break, not just NF. Not funny having your life and family endlessly under public scrutiny.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 30-Jun-23 11:13:33

FannyCornforth

I don’t understand why he needs to take a break, though?

It reminds me a little bit of when Andrew Neil left after a few weeks, and some on here argued with me saying that he was just in holiday, and that I was talking nonsense.

Neil seriously nearly had a nervous breakdown due to GBNews

Yes my thoughts.

Break from what?

From GBNews I think (I did read the article)

eazybee Fri 30-Jun-23 10:27:51

I don't know the situation concerning Nigel Farage although there appears to be, as usual, a great deal of -mud-slinging- damaging speculation.

The letter Christina Jordan posted is truly shocking; the Bank can't answer her questions because they are 'business-sensitive', and 'we are complying with legal and regulatory obligations.'
Which are ?
