I love GB News

I recently started watching GB News and am finding it so interesting. Once you get past the different format to the usual news programmes it is very good. There are so many different views expressed from all political spectrums. I like that contributors are allowed to say their piece and it's then debated. Not just left or right wing views.

The Guardian and The Mirror have a left wing bias.

The "i" is generally accepted as unbiased newspaper.

More than 80% of readers of national newspapers in the UK read newspapers such as The Sun, The Daily Mail, The Telegraph, The Times, The Daily Express etc, which have have a right-wing bias.

I think unbiased news is almost impossible.

Probably, but that should be the aim, and some achieve it whereas others have an evident and even declared political bias.

GB News is an attempt at bringing Fox News-style biased news to the UK. The news channel has "anti-woke" political positions, and a range of right wing, pro-government, pro-Brexit and coronavirus-conspiracist presenters. Many are even former Brexit Party politicians – none of this is normal for a "news channel".

Easy to see who doesn’t really watch GB News. There are often left wing views presented, mixed panels all saying what they think and not getting angry or ranty with each other.
People who supported Brexit and people who didn’t too btw.
True it’s mostly anti-woke but that’s in it’s favour.

The guardian has an obvious political slant.

Are you saying that all presenters on all channels should be anti Brexit, anti government, etc?

I thought the whole point of news was that it was presented as neutrally as possible, with no bias. We fun sponges like to be given facts not opinions - or at least, that’s what I want from news reports.

Galaxy Thu 29-Jun-23 18:44:55

I dont agree with a lot of views on GB news, I loathe Farage for example, however I think they have the right to broadcast. In the same way I dont agree with the guardian on some issues, (Owen Jones is also a target for my loathing grin) but I think they have a right to publish.

Unfortunately Wikipedia has also been cited as biased WWmk2

I think the Tric awards, will change their strategy next time.
No peoples vote.
It was too embarrassing for the other stations to find that in fact people (when given a chance) could have the audacity to decided for themselves what they wanted to watch in the privacy of their own homes.
That is if GB news hasnt been offcom'd off the airwaves.

Does it worry anyone that freedom of speech and action is being eroded?
It does me.

No Varian - I was surprised that someone seemed to have a handle on what’s going on. Keep the wings out of it.

Just switched on to Gb news and surprised to hear some criticism of the Privileges Committee’s second report out today. Quite cheered me up!

Why would you be surprised? Isn't that exactly what you would expect from a channel with a clear right wing bias?

tickingbird Thu 29-Jun-23 17:20:09

I would rather get my fact checked information from EB than Wiki.

tickingbird Thu 29-Jun-23 17:19:24

Tried to a link but it won’t work so screenshot will hopefully suffice.

Wikipedia

The Daily Mail has also been criticised for its unreliability, its printing of sensationalist and inaccurate scare stories of science and medical research,[18][19][20][21] and for instances of plagiarism and copyright infringement.[22][23][24][25] In February 2017, editors on the English Wikipedia banned the use of the Daily Mail as a source

If I’m going to watch something about the news that’s humorous I’ll stick to HIGNFY or The Last Leg ( which is, thankfully, back on air on Friday).

Nicenanny3 Thu 29-Jun-23 14:58:39

Yes Fun Spongers lol or miserable bug**rs.

tickingbird Thu 29-Jun-23 14:36:46

WW2
The Encyclopaedia Britannica classes The Daily Mail as a newspaper and states this in a fact checked piece last updated on 5 June 2023. You’re wrong.

eazybee Thu 29-Jun-23 13:56:43

New phrase to me: 'fun sponges'.

So apt, and much easier to spell than sanctimonious.

I see that the banks are suspecting Farage of either fraud or money laundering or possibly both.

Subsequently they have frozen his bank accounts.

Farage is squealing like a stuck pig.

I think you’ll only be happy when he’s locked away in the tower whitewave 😁
I can’t begin to tell you the number of people, especially MPs who have been investigated about this sort of thing, but you just seem to have the knife into Nigel Farage‘s back..
I will try my best not to interact with you anymore on this subject, but I can’t promise…

FannyCornforth Thu 29-Jun-23 12:29:13

Yesterday- not yes.
See, I’m at it again 🙄

FannyCornforth Thu 29-Jun-23 12:28:29

Nannashirlz you are absolutely right!

I was incredibly muddled up yes morning for some reason.

As soon as I realised my error I was going to post acknowledging it, but I thought that I’d probably posted enough and didn’t want to b*** everything up again! smile
